December 30, 2016: Booing Helps

posted in: Blackhawks | 1

I got a chance to watch most of the Blackhawks Predators game on Thursday night; I was glad I did.  That was a pretty good hockey game.  We do have a bit of history with these guys.

They were one of the stepping stones on our way to the Cup in 2010.  Actually, the turning point in the playoffs came when we fought back on them in Game 4 I believe to even up the series vs going down 3-1 headed to Nashville.  The Hawks never looked back.  They were also a stepping stone on the way to the 2015 Cup; this time in the first round.  The result was the same.  So, I don’t think they like us much.

These are the guys who won’t sell tickets to people with an Illinois zip code in fear of the Hawks fans taking over the arena; yeah, how’s that working out?  Lots of Hawks fans in attendance last night.  They are also the ones who said that cheering during the anthem is disrespectful.  If you’ve ever been at the UC, or at the Stadium back in the day, and you hear the cheering during the anthem, I don’t think disrespectful is the way you would describe it.  Chills up the spine, tears in your eyes would be a better description.  The Preds are not fans of the Hawks.

In last night’s affair, Patrick Kane was their focus.  Every time he touched the puck, the Nashville fans booed loudly.  Kane had an assist, and the game winning goal.  I think the booing helps.

But seriously… with a experienced team like the Hawks; I guess any team really.  To play in that type of atmosphere just gets that blood going a little bit more; it puts an extra zip in your skates.  Hearing that makes you want to stick it to them that much more.  And we did.

The Hawks broke their 3 game losing streak; crazy right?  That the Hawks had lost three in a row I mean.  They’re still the best team in the West, although the Wild are on our heels with some games in hand.  Not too worried about them; talk about a playoff stepping stone…  The goals yesterday were sweet.  Anisimov and Toews, getting in front of the goalie, tipping in shots by Keith and Seabrook.  That’s the way to get it done.  Get in front of the net, and get those dirty goals.  The last goal wasn’t dirty.. it was filthy.

Kane coming down the ice on a 3 on 2.  Looking to pass, looking to pass, then whipping it by Rinne.  It was beautiful.  He stuck it to those booing fans.  Above just your normal game winning goal, it happened to be Kane’s 700th career point.  Not too shabby.

Yes, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, that’s what we’ve come to expect from our Blackhawks.  Playing in Nashville, hearing the boos, just gives a great team that extra motivation; the results usually aren’t good for the opponent in these cases.  Although it certainly felt a bit like it last night, we always wait in anticipation of the playoffs; this year will be no different.  This year will hopefully be different than last year.  700 is nice for 88; 4 will be better for all of us.  Go Blackhawks!

Kane with a sWeet wrister for the W! Bhawks have owned the preds and wild. Really, the entire division despite losing to the blues in 7 games last postseason. The Bhawks are still the team to beat, and the standard that these teams want to become. They have what the rest of the division longs for…a Cup or multiple Cups like the Bhawks! We have seen it before. The Bhawks on the road are sometimes more dangerous than at the UC. They have been in every position with the experience to handle any situation or crowd. Booing helps, winning at home or away is what the Bhawks do!
