December 28, 2023: Back in Our Place

It was nice to see the Bulls bounce back on Tuesday night vs the Hawks at the UC. It wasn’t that nice to see them flop on Thursday night vs the Pacers. The Bulls will end their 6 game homestand on Saturday night vs the Sixers with a chance to finish it with a 4-2 record, which would be a whole hell of a lot better than 3-3, although since we just beat them in Philly… I’m guessing they’ll be out for blood. We’ll see…

After Lavine’s absence began, the Bulls are now 9-5, which has put us back in our place in the 10th seed in the East. The Bulls still sit 5 games under 500. The spark that happened when Lavine went out has been tangible; is it fading out now? Say what you want about Zach, and I have, we’re still missing 21 points per game. Even though I don’t care if he plays another game in a Bulls uniform, we need somebody to put one on. What a shitty organization Klutch sports must be, not being able to find a place for their boy; doesn’t Lebron want him on the Lakers? As Zach’s “foot soreness” has turned into a weeks long injury, which may line up to some trade eligibility dates for Rui from the Fake Show, it may be happening in the next few weeks; here’s hoping. Until then though, I don’t think this team can keep this up. I DO think it’s real, but we just don’t have the horses, especially now. Torrey Craig was just coming around and he got hurt. Now Vooch? Vooch is who he is, but he is still missed. The Bulls are down 3 guys now, and that’s just not going to get it done consistently.

After Drummond’s 20-20 game the other night, I had a thought. Imagine if we could combine Vooch and Drummond into one player? Take Vooch’s passing and shooting touch with Drummond’s rebounding and defense, and voila… here comes an All Star center… haha. If Andre could hang, I would play him more minutes; he does have his shortcomings, but overall, I like his big bodied presence in the middle of the paint. I still wonder why we drafted Dalen Terry. He’s shooting under 40% overall, and only 13% from three point land, which has featured some air balls. He is seeing increased time on the floor due to the absences mentioned above, and… it hasn’t been pretty. What about our draft pick from this year Julian Phillips? Who? Exactly. Outside of a nice dunk, not much to speak of regarding him. Thankfully, our draft pick from 3 years ago is finally showing us why. Yes, besides Coby White, Patrick Williams has been the next best thing during this stretch.

Of course, there’s still Caruso, who I love, but would be a great trading chip. And yes, there’s still DD, who still has a little left in the tank, but would also get us something in return. The Bulls have played better without Zach; I do think they could make the playoffs or at least the play-in games at this point. But don’t really see them going much farther than that, without some additions. Is it time to make some moves? First one up should be Klutch’s guy Zach… waiting… Go Bulls!
