OK, we made it through Christmas Eve; time to refocus. The Fantasy Football finals started on Christmas Day! I didn’t watch much of the games to be honest. We were zoning in on multiple different Christmas movies throughout the day. I’m not a big Christmas movie guy, but man… why the hell were tears flowing regardless of what movie we were watching? It’s a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street… I was an emotional wreck I guess. I was fine letting it all out; it was great sitting on the couch with my wife watching those movies, while my son played his new video games downstairs. It was a nice relaxing Christmas Day, ending up by her family’s house for more family, food, and presents. Very nice.
I’m glad I didn’t watch the games… it was not a very good start to the Fantasy Football finals for me. Hey, I made it to the finals in all 3 leagues I played in! Did I already mention that? Haha… In two of the leagues, I had picked up the Pittsburgh defense; that was a disaster. -1 points for my defense to start the proceedings; great, just great. In the family league, I was going against multiple Ravens, all of whom had big days, putting me in an 100 point hole to start off the week. Perfect, just perfect. It has to get better, right?
Well, the day after Christmas it did; we went to the casino! Not like we won anything… it was still fun. Of course, the Bears were playing on this evening. We drove right past Soldier Field on our way to the casino. Tickets were the cheapest all year for a Bears game on this day after Christmas against the Seahawks. I had asked my son if he was interested; he said no… I was fine… I really wasn’t that interested in going either. So… casino it was! Walking into this casino, one I’ve been going to since I turned 21, was really fun. They’ve made so many changes over the years, including most recently, the addition of a very nice sports book. Add in a food court in the middle of the casino, and man, it really did feel like we were in Vegas… off the strip… but still, in Vegas. Walking by the sportsbook, we watched some of the game. There it was, on a big screen, right next to the Bulls on the other big screen; this is sweet! Of course the results that evening were not… we found out the Bulls blew a huge lead in the 4th quarter to lose to the Hawks, and we were back in the sportsbook for the last couple minutes of the Bears game.
Why did they take their sweet time? Didn’t they learn a lesson in Detroit? The clock was just ticking down, as the Bears lined up to call a play. I was losing my mind. I started talking shit to a random Bears fan sitting there watching the game; he agreed with me. I think we were best friends by the time we left. I was just going off. Unbelievable this BS!!! Then, seeing Caleb throw an INT to seal the L… perfect, just perfect. The season where the Bears found every possible way to lose continues; we would only have one more chance before the season ended.
It’s all good; keep it moving. Donated some dough, watched my team blow it, but some polishes and pork chops from Maxwell Street on the way home made it all better. Most importantly, we made it home safely. What’s next?
