Heading into this past week in the NFL, my son and I had three chances combined to make the Fantasy Football finals, and if you read the title of this blog, you know exactly how that turned out.
In our family league, we were on opposite sides of the semifinals; there was the potential that we would meet in the finals… that would have been something, but alas, it will have to wait. Let me first start off by saying I hate Amari Cooper. This dude put up QB type points, and buried me early in my matchup. Of course Cee Dee Lamb, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Christian McCaffrey helped pile on; I lost by over 100 points! It was really never in question, although it did start off well. Yeah, I had Puka from the Rams who gave me 33 points to start the week; that lead was short lived. My defense was off to a great start but then gave up a ton of points to Washington; yeah, the Jets D even let me down. But, I did get 14 points from their kicker… although my opponent… they had Jason Sanders… the top scoring kicker of the week. Sometimes, you just have to chalk it up… My son’s matchup was a whole lot closer; it actually came down to the last quarter of the last game on Monday night. When Aiyuk went beast mode down the stretch, he passed up Deebo for points, and ended my son’s season; it ended up being a six point margin. Even having Breece Hall on his team wasn’t enough. One of the biggest disappointments for him this week, and really all season, was Patrick Mahomes. You’d think at home against the Raiders he would have went off… nope. Jalen Hurts outscored him by 11, which hurt him too. Good luck to the final participants. The matchup is my brother and my niece against my brother in law and my nephew; may the best team win.
In my money/auction league, I had the lead early, but at the end, it wasn’t that close. A 48 point loss sent me packing, and caused me to lose out on some money. I was shut out across my two money leagues; I don’t like that. I also don’t like the fact that Cortland Sutton got knocked out during his first target… bum. Tony Pollard… what a bust he’s been all year. If you’re looking for a reason why the Cowboys suck and can’t beat a good team, look no further than their usage of Pollard; I don’t get it. Again my kicker did well, but again, I was facing Jason Sanders; you can’t make this stuff up. I felt my son’s pain with Deebo coming up short this week, which lead to my receiving corps being dominated. The finals in this league features an old friend/co-worker/gambling cohort vs a first time player in our league, a friend who reads this here blog regularly. Good luck guys!
Yes, lucky for you, there will be no more Fantasy Football entries on this website. The next time we talk Fantasy, will be when Fantasy Baseball starts, unless you count me talking about the playoffs with my Chicago teams a fantasy… haha.
