December 26, 2020: Week 16 Preview Bears at Jaguars

posted in: Bears | 0

It’ll never cease to amaze me… the difference in a few weeks. After losing in painful fashion to the Lions, the season appeared over. I wasn’t confident that the Bears could beat anybody, even this week’s opponent, the Jaguars. Since then, the Bears have looked like an NFL team again, winning 2 in a row, keeping our playoff chances on life support. Our destiny, however, was not in our hands. We needed some help, most notably a Cardinals loss. The Bears received a late Christmas gift on Saturday night, as that is exactly what happened.

Did you see the interview with George Kittle after the game? If you didn’t like him already, you will now. Basically he said he grew up a Bears fan, he was happy this 49er win over the Cardinals helped the Bears, “Da Bears”, and I F-ing love the Bears. Wow. I checked his contract details and saw that he had just re-upped in San Francisco for 5 years… damn. Would love to see someone like that on our team, but we still appreciate you George, and your team for turning the tables and putting our playoff destiny back in our hands. Now it’s our turn to do what we have to do.

How does that 7.5 point line suit you? It feels low. I know we’re in Jacksonville, but how much does that really matter nowadays, with road teams doing historically well in the league this year. The Jaguars are pathetic, kind of like the Jets; you saw what the Jets did last week right? How embarrassing would that be? To get control of your own destiny back only to throw it away to the 1 win Jags… geez, that would be bad… real bad. But that’s not going to happen. Our defense shouldn’t have a problem. Talk about embarrassing… did I read that right? Mike Glennon will be starting again this week for Jacksonville. If we lose to HIM…. yeah, all of a sudden, this is shaping up to be more and more important of a game for us.

The offense should be able to have another good game. Trubisky should continue to make a late case for himself; Montgomery should be able to continue to run the ball effectively. Both of these events are made possible by the improved play of the offensive line. There’s absolutely no reason why this shouldn’t continue against this pathetic team. We have our season back in our hands; we have everything to play for. Jacksonville has something to play for too though; good thing for us that’s the #1 draft pick. We have every reason to win, they have every reason to lose, so how about we make that happen?

Final Score Prediction: Bears 33 Jaguars 17

Yes, with a win this week, the Bears will be on the brink of making the playoffs. This season would have come full circle. Sure, it will still take a win against the Packers to punch our ticket, but after losing 6 in a row, we would have killed to be in this spot. First thing’s first though… beat the Jaguars. Let’s get it done. Bear Down!
