On the 12th day of Christmas, Santa brought to us, another 12 full months… an atrocious offensive year, another QB bust, 9 NFL Championships, the questionable superstar, 7 years of being a Dad, 6 Bulls & Blackhawks titles, 5 golden years, 4th straight crappy Bulls season, 3 old baseball trophies, 2 cold stoves, and a shitty field goal kicker. OK, it’s not perfect, but it’ll do.
Yes, 2019 was another full year. There is never a dull moment in Chicago sports; I always have plenty to write about, it’s just the time though… Current or not, I’m always current on what’s happening in Chicago sports. And if I think about it, 2019 has been a pretty crappy year. Bears blowing it to start the year off, Bulls and Blackhawks both missing the playoffs, Cubs and Sox both missing the playoffs, Bears screwing this year up royally, about to miss the playoffs, Blackhawks and Bulls both struggling… Yeah, it’s been great; thanks for asking. What can happen during this final week of the year to top it off? A KB trade would do the trick…
This roller coaster ride isn’t easy; nobody ever said it would be. It could be a lot worse… it could be a lot better. My teams are my teams regardless. I have loved them before the current players and coaches, and I will love them after. It’s not that hard to understand. Easy for the front runners and bandwagoners, the casual fans who jump on and off… yeah, they all suck. But I wouldn’t want to be them for a minute… I couldn’t.

If I look at everything else, it’s been a pretty damn good year, and for that I’m very thankful. I feel most thankful during this Christmas season. Being able to coach my son year round in his sports, having him be completely in to it… that’s pretty cool, let me tell you. That is truly my mini-me; I love that kid. Then there’s my wife… ah, yes, the wifey. Well, let’s just say she helped make this an awesome year. She finally did it this year; she graduated college. It was a journey, no doubt, but an impressive one at that. One that I don’t think I could have done. To start something, and stick with it no matter how long it took, no matter how many states were involved, the life changing moments of getting married, adopting a dog, having a son, buying a condo, buying a house, the ups and downs and all the in betweens… man, I am very proud.
Yes, we’re wrapping up 2019 on a pretty good note… now only if that could spread to our sports teams. Thanks for reading.
