The last Bulls game before Christmas was on Saturday night vs the Cavs at the United Center; we were in the house. My wife likes going to that game, with the UC decorated, all kinds of other stuff going on; we knew it would be a lot of fun. We also thought that the Bulls would do their part, beating a Cavs team down three of their starters. Well, you can’t get everything you want for Christmas… The Bulls spent the night reverting back to the team that frustrated the hell out of me the last year plus, looking lifeless, playing down to their level of competition, letting these no names take it to them; it was disappointing to say the least.
Max Strus… I should have known. At the end of last year, when we just happened to be on vacation in Florida, we ended up going to the Bulls Heat play-in game, where yes, Max Strus helped knock us out. If you remember him, it’s because he played with the Bulls; can’t recall how many 10 day contracts he had with us, or if it was something more than that. It was a quick flash in the pan though, but the Bulls DID have him on their roster… and oh yeah, he did graduate from DePaul university too. But, the Bulls assessed his talent, and determined he was not worthy of keeping; nice job guys. Not saying he’s the next coming, but he did play a role in the Heat getting to the Finals last year, and now, he got a big fat contract with the Cavs, which allows us to see him a little more each year. He stuck it to us in this one, with his family sitting in a box at the UC. I should have known…
What I thought I DID know was that THIS Bulls team was behind us. The Bulls team that sleepwalked on the court. The Bulls team that thought they were better than another team, and acted like it would be an easy victory, when that’s the very last thing this team should every think. I don’t know exactly what it was, but the effort on defense was pretty telling. I didn’t know half these guys on the Cavs, and they were killing us… yes, besides just Strus. The performance in this one was completely unacceptable. It was like Zach was back on the floor… Cheap shot? Maybe, but I just call it like I see it. And maybe I’m a little more upset about this one since we were there for the proceedings… that always comes into play. Don’t my teams know when I’m in the house and really try to win for me? Haha… they should, and regardless, they didn’t. It would have been a nice way to ride into the holiday…
Have no fear though. The Bulls will be back after Christmas to face the Hawks on Tuesday at the UC. Hopefully, they will get back to being that Bulls team that was on a bit of a run before this dud. Go Bulls!
