What a week! If there was a week for everything to go right fantasy football wise, it was this one, the semi-final matchup against the number one overall seed. What appeared to be another tough matchup turned out to be a runaway win, and a trip back to the finals for this guy. I know, I know… you can’t wait to hear more.
It all started with Herbert on Thursday night. He started off with an awesome first half, yet without a 10 point OT, would have been just average; huge 10 points to get me off to the big start. Then it would be the first decision of the weekend; Fant or Andrews at TE… or both? Well, I decided Fant had to be in the lineup and he rewarded me with 20 points. The goodness didn’t stop there. Kamara and Aiyuk were the only true no brainers in my lineup outside of Herbert this week; they both produced. Aiyuk got a nice long catch late in his game to make it a really good week; Kamara was back to normal with the return of Brees. The rest of my lineup was pending; I made the first right choice with Fant. Now what?
Well, I was at church Sunday morning, and no, I wasn’t praying for a fantasy win, but when I did return, a small miracle happened. As I was doing a final review of my lineup, sitting in front of the TV, tuned into NFL Network, I heard an important piece of news: Elliott was out for the Cowboys. So I thought, let me check for Pollard; he was available! I picked him up. First off, I couldn’t believe the guy I was playing, who I know was checking this stuff since about 7am in the morning, had NOT grabbed him. Secondly, do I start him? With Kamara in one spot, and Miles Sanders currently in the other, maybe I flex him? That would mean benching Mark Andrews. Well, I decided I would start him and move Sanders to flex to make another decision. Starting Pollard would go down as one of the best moves of my fantasy football life… haha. 31 points from him really opened it up, including a late long TD scamper after a spinning move to break a tackle; I was cheering him on.

But I did get 10 points from my kicker who I decided to stick with, Robbie Gould, and 12 points from my starting defense the Dolphins. It came down to Monday Night Football to make it official. My opponent needed a huge game from Big Ben and Ebron to have a shot. The nice thing about it was that I still had Juju left. As you know, there weren’t a whole lot of fantasy points in that game for the Steelers. Juju ended up being my only starter not in double figures, but it didn’t matter. I won… easily.
The finals are set. The nice thing is that me and my opponent decided to split the 1st and 2nd place prize money already, which is a big deal considering the difference between the two. I used to talk crap about people who did that, but honestly, it’s a no brainer. Now with the money out of the way, the pride is the only thing on the line, and with having never won first place in this league, it’s a big deal. Will I make the right decisions in the final? You know I’ll keep you posted. Good luck if you’re lucky enough to be playing in the finals too. If you want to chat about it, let me know…
