December 20, 2015: Throwing Under the Bus

posted in: Bulls | 2

You just don’t do it. You can’t do it. Not to your coach. Ok, so I agree with what he said, and it’s not like he was dragging him, but Jimmy Butler definitely threw Fred Hoiberg under the bus.

Emotions were running high. After a quadruple OT loss…yes, 4 OTs, the Bulls got on a plane to New York.  Ok, the Knicks aren’t as bad as they have been, but they are still bad. On this night though, most teams would have took out this tired bunch. Although I don’t like those built in excuses, the odds were definitely not in our favor in the Garden.

Gasol didn’t even make the trip. Is that the first thing that pissed him off?  I sure would have been. Staying home to rest…hey, a bunch of us played those minutes, should we all have stood home?  Thibs would have never let that fly.  Thinking back, I’m guessing Pau was one of the guys complaining about the coaching style. We now know Derrick was too.

The comments he’s made lead us to believe that. After all the time Thibs stood by him, Rose was excited to get into a better offensive system, one in which he can thrive. Ha!  The thing is though, it’s the same story with Rose. We can’t get to the next level without superstar Derrick. Before the 4 OT loser, the Bulls were 6-1 when Derrick scores 20. Ok, so 6-2 now, but 9-8 when he doesn’t. It’s just the facts, and without the old Derrick, we’re not going anywhere.

He was one of the best coaches in the NBA.  I blame GarPax. It certainly wasn’t Hoiberg’s fault, unless you consider vying for a position that was already occupied a bad thing. Wink, wink. So this is what Hoiberg walked into, and he learned quick when Derrick got hurt again. Here is a veteran crew that’s been the best during the regular season and is being told that it will be Hoiberg that will get them over the hump. Things that make you go hmmm…

I didn’t believe it, but I’m willing to give him a chance. It’s still early. It’s only year one. The problem is, that the window for this team is closing.  They’re getting older and the east is getting better.  Maybe it’s all this and then some that prompted Jimmy Buckets to tell the media what him, other teammates, and some fans are feeling.  It still doesn’t make it right.

You keep that in house. There sure was a lot of whispering with Thibs and the whole front office feud…we heard it, but never like this. Never to the media out loud with a face to the comment. Now that’s what we have. The best player on the Bulls throwing the new coach hand picked by the front office under the bus.   Break out the popcorn.

Maybe this was needed?  It certainly wasn’t the right way to go about things, but what will this lead to?  Hey, I’m a Bulls fan all the way. Players and coaches come and go…and so does the front office…but I’m in it at all times. I get pissed, like when Thibs was shown the door, but I’m still here…rooting for the new guy…rooting for the guys that have been through the ringer…rooting for my team.  What will come next?  Hopefully less talking, more playing, and more wins. Like that old Bulls intro, let’s throw some of these opposing teams under the bus.  Go Bulls!

maybe instead of crying like a bunch of millionaire babies, they should concentrate on playing ‘both’ sides of the floor. li’l dougie has been really good on offense, but i could probably get around him on the ‘d’ end. taj and pau seem to still be getting their blocks and boards, but too many easy trips to the hoop for the other teams isn’t going to go well as this season plods along. play the whole game. MAN-UP CRYBABIES !!!!

The truth hurts. That is what buckets is telling us. Thibs was not the issue. It is these primadonnas nowadays that dont feel the need to work hard and be disciplined. Now, freddie is laid back and relax. Sure pau, stay home cause you’re tired. Need a day off drose, ok. Worried about your free agency in 2 years…take it easy then. REALLY!?! These guys make millions of dollars and still want to be coddled like newborns. Your jobs are to play basketball…hard. Practice hard, work hard, play hard. Buckets is stating facts. Maybe he tried internally with freddie before coming out to the media (not that way like msam). These guys need to be held accountable. They sure get paid enough. You want to baby them freddie, goodluck. Some tough love never hurts. Discipline and hard work will make this, your Chicago Bulls team better. Time to check the egos at the door boys and do what needs to be done to be the best team possible. Take a look at your UC roomies, the Blackhawks…a perfect example to follow!
