December 17, 2020: You’re My Boy Justin

Sorry, but I’m in the fantasy semifinals, and I know you don’t give a crap, but I need to talk a little bit about this, and yes, it may 110% be because I fell behind a couple days.

Heading into Thursday night’s game, I felt pretty good. There was no need to worry about the QB position. You see I had drafted Drew Brees… uh, hold on a minute. Yes, from earlier reports, specifically Sean Payton quotes, it appeared there was absolutely no chance he would play this week. Then, as the week went on, he was practicing… and now he’s playing? It doesn’t matter, because I had no plans, or worries of starting him. I have Justin Herbert on my roster. He’s probably been my pick up of the year, in both leagues for that matter. Unfortunately, he’s turned in his 2 lowest fantasy weeks the past 2 weeks, costing me a first round bye, then almost costing me my first round game. No worries Justin, you’ll have a chance to make it up. With a matchup against the Raiders on tap, I was ready for redemption. As if it wasn’t juicy enough, my die-hard Raiders buddy was telling me their defense was short handed; yes! By the way, he had Carr in his starting lineup on the other side of the playoff bracket… yeah, I can relate to that early exit. He’s still not out of it though…

OK, back to my QB and an outstanding start and finish to the first half of the game. With 200+ and 2 TDs in the first half, I was on my way. Then, he didn’t do crap in the 2nd half, on schedule for a perfectly average point total for the game… until the game went to OT, and he snagged me another 10 total points including the game winning QB sneak, bringing him just under 50 for the game. You’re my boy Justin!

The rest of the week leaves me with some interesting roster decisions, but I had no worries at QB. Now next week… Herbert is slated against the Broncos, Brees if he stays healthy and back against the Vikings, and my latest pickup Tua against those same Raiders. Do I dare start another QB in the fantasy championship? I hope I have to make that decision. By the way, I’m going up against Big Ben at QB in my playoff matchup, which will mean this matchup will not be decided until late Monday night. Another Monday night miracle???

My wife gets sick of it too, don’t worry. “Who cares about your fantasy BS?” Well, actually, I do… and besides draft night, if you’re lucky enough, THIS is the best time of the year in fantasy football. Sure, you have to make roster decisions week in and week out, but now… the decision is for all the marbles. A win is guaranteed money which is never a bad thing. Justin did his part, now hopefully I make the right decision the rest of the weekend, starting with do I dare start Noah Fant at TE after he goose egged me last week? Good luck to me.
