December 15, 2020: Fantasy Comes True

Have you ever had a fantasy of yours that came true? I have… the latest of which was last night. It was surprising, shocking, and everything I thought it would be. It appeared that it would not come true, then at the very last moment, happened! Yes, it really is a great feeling when a fantasy comes true.

Of course, I’m talking about Fantasy Football, and the first round of the playoffs. His big 3 WRs did come through and score a bunch of points. My QB didn’t, and got outscored by Taysom Hill for God’s sake… My RBs did well, except the one that did the best was on the bench. Somehow, after a late Juju touchdown on Sunday night, I clung to a lead of less than one point. We went to Monday Night with one player each: he had Landry from Cleveland, and I had Andrews from Baltimore. I felt OK…

As the game went on, I started feeling worse. Lamar wasn’t throwing much; Andrews only had 2 catches. Still, Baltimore was opening up their lead which meant more passing for Cleveland; he held about a 4 point lead late in the game. Once the Ravens scored at the 2 minute mark, when Lamar miraculously ran out of the locker room and found the WR for a deep TD (w/Andrews right next to him), I knew I was done. My only hope now was OT. But the Browns drove right down and scored in about a minute, which left time on the clock for the Ravens. First pass, Andrews; second pass, Andrews. I didn’t think I had the lead yet, but I had just inched ahead. Andrews caught the last pass of the drive for good measure. Now I just need them to hit the FG. He did; yes!!! But there was 2 seconds left… Watch them throw some hook and ladder type play; how would that get scored if Landry was involved? Well, they did, and Landry was involved, but he ran backwards, and eventually, after a few more laterals, out of the back of the end zone for a game ending safety, which “coincidentally” meant a Baltimore cover vs a push. That Papa… he’s slick. Game over. I’m moving on!

So yes, you’ll get at least one more fantasy blog out of me; I know you can’t wait. Looking for Herbert to give me a big start on Thursday night vs the Raiders. Again, looking at the early predictions, I’m pegged to lose again; you see how that worked out this week. Boom! One more win means automatic money. Facing the #1 overall team, who I lost a close one against earlier this year. But that doesn’t matter now. It’s playoff time. And if it needs to come down to Juju on my team vs Big Ben and Ebron on his team on Monday night, I just hope Big Ben throws his TDs to Juju for some more Monday night fantasy fulfilling magic. Let’s do this!
