Was at a family party on Saturday, and the feelings were the same from most; everybody couldn’t wait for this game…everybody wanted to smash the Packers. I’m sure this is a feeling that is felt throughout the city. That feeling of wanting to get payback, wanting to get some measure of revenge. Although my brother in law didn’t share in that feeling; his thought was that after what happened in week one, it didn’t matter what happened in this game. We’ll have to agree to disagree.
Every Bears Packers game is important. When the Bears are bad, beating the Packers makes everything feel ok. I’m sure that’s where Green Bay fans are at. In a lost season, having beat the Bears twice, would make them feel ok; yeah, because the Packers suck this year, get it? Heck, that week one victory may hold them over; they may rank that as one of their best all time wins…we can’t change that. What we can change is what happens next.

Every game against this hated opponent is a chance to prove something, regardless of the results of the last game, regardless of the results of the last decade let’s say. Now the Packers will own the most important win in this rivalry for the time being, with that win in the NFC Championship game; hopefully we get a chance one day to avenge THAT one. But as far as the regular season goes, this particular one can provide satisfaction on many levels. Not only as revenge for the game earlier in the year, but another win in the rivalry…one that would rank up there with its importance. With a win we win the division AND end the Packers season. Not many regular season games are going to hold that importance.
So yeah, this game would be payback on many levels; hopefully the down payment on many installments going forward. OK. The waiting is almost over. We’re only hours away now. Are you ready? Let’s go!!! Bear Down!!!
