My how the mighty have fallen… The Miami Heat look like a shadow of their former selves, and the Bulls didn’t hesitate to deliver them a swift beat down.
How does it feel to be outmanned on the court? That’s what we’ve dealt with for the past 2 years. We’ve had the deck stacked against us, yet still come out and gave the Heat all they could handle. Now, the tables have turned. With Lebron a distant memory, this Miami team is ripe for the picking. Heck, all their players look worse. You got Wade, who is looking older by the game… still whining like a youngster. You got Bosh sitting on the bench in this one, wishing he was back in Toronto right about now. You got Birdman, who was the tattoo covered energizer bunny, that’s now nothing but that scary guy from the trailer park. You got Norris Cole, whose high top fade looked IN last year, now is looking just played… get it, kid-n-play. You got their coach who actually has to coach now… how’s that working out Eric? The only guy I wish I didn’t have to see in a Heat uniform was Luol Deng. He will ALWAYS be a Bull to me. This guy embodied the Thibodeau Bulls toughness. Actually, Deng was the type of player that could have been on the 90s Bulls. He’s that tough. He was a warrior… I hate to see him suffer with those South Beach losers.
As for me, I love to see the Heat like this. The Bulls rolled over them in this one. If it wasn’t for the ridiculous amount of turnovers committed, it would have been even uglier. Dunleavy scored 19 points… in ONE quarter! It’s official, the Bulls are undefeated when Mike Dunleavy scores 19 or more points in a quarter. When that’s going on, you know the opposition is in trouble. In fact, I didn’t even think DRose would come back in the game after sitting with 3 fouls. I honestly think one guy could have taken this whole team out by himself tonight.
What more can you say about Jimmy Butler? Night in night out, this guy is proving he’s got the right stuff. He stifled DWade. He made hustle plays up and down the court. He takes it to the hole with reckless abandon. His outside game is improved. The only problem I had with his game tonight was that he was still out there late. I love Thibs, more than any other coach we have right now, but you got to watch this guy’s minutes. I’ll even go as far to say as a healthy Jimmy Butler is almost as important as a healthy DRose come playoff time. But maybe Thibs wanted to really smash these guys…. maybe Jimmy wanted to really smash these guys… I could believe that. It’s in both of their DNAs… and how can you not like that?

There is another guy who played his ass off, distinguishing his own Flames on the ice at the United Center tonight. Brandon Saad scored the game winner as the Hawks grabbed their 9th win out of 10 games. Just as Jimmy Butler had a sequence in the Bulls game where he stole the ball, ran the court, missed the shot, came back and stole the ball again, Brandon Saad took the penalty kill into his own hands in the 3rd. 1 on 4 he coasted into the Flames zone, to kill about 30 seconds, while Hossa came and helped him. He got rewarded with a beautiful dish from Toews later in the period, and he didn’t miss. He went top shelf as Eddie O had been telling us to do all night, and the Hawks got the W.
I see Butler and Saad as similar players. We’re looking at the future. Here are guys who need to be on our teams for a long time. Both of them have some contract negotiations coming up. I know both the Bulls and the Hawks will have salary issues to deal with, but let me tell you, we need to find a way to keep both of these guys.
It was great to sit and watch most of both games tonight. Love how the scheduling allowed for it. Football? Who gives a crap. We have currently the 2nd and 4th best teams in their respective conferences with the Hawks and the Bulls, and I have a pretty good hunch, that the best is yet to come, for both Butler and Saad, and both the Bulls and the Hawks. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Love watching this Bulls team coming together. They may still not be 100% healthy, but the Bulls’ chemistry seems to be getting better and better. Plus, drose has been on the court for a bunch of games in a row, which only means bad things for the rest of the nba. Buckets is a guy who could have played in the 90s without question. He is a key part of this Bulls team and needs to be around for the future. Pat Riley and his heat organization are feeling like the knicks used to by the Bulls in the 90s…beatup and overmatched!
The Hawks had a small hiccup the other night versus the isles, but they got right back into the win column against the flames. This Hawks team will be there at the end, and I can only hope the bounces go our way this year. Saad is an awesome young talent that should be locked up, too. He does it on both ends just like Hoss and Toews.
Looking forward to the Bulls and Hawks bridging the gap to baseball season and beyond…good times coming!
GO BULLS, HAWKS, CUBS!!!
