It’s been 14 weeks… and all I want to say to the Packers is “Thank You”… what, you thought it would be a different first word? Nah… it wasn’t a typo. I really do mean it. That Week 1 pain is just what this team needed. We had an up and coming defense; we were going to be better than most people predicted. Once we got Mack, that all but guaranteed that. We had a new coach, new offense, new playmakers, and a QB starting his first full season. We came out killing it… then we crumbled, in a way that unfortunately we’ve gotten used to over the recent years. But I knew… I knew this was different. This would be the beginning of the end of this type of game. Not saying we wouldn’t lose again… not saying we won’t get our heart broken again, but we will be better; there will be more good than bad from here on out. The rest of the season has been exactly that.
How will the Bears recover from this week 1 collapse? Many fans were already jumping off the building… This team never wavered; they still haven’t. Since then, all the Bears have done is go 9-3, taking the division lead, and putting it in a head lock. This Bears team has continued to defy doubters. Yes, we’ve had our bumps, but this is a team on a mission. When and where this mission will end, who knows, but this team is focused. Doesn’t everybody see that? Maybe not… When thinking about this game, I was nervous… nervous to check what Papa Vegas thought. When I saw the line, my nervousness was confirmed… Bears only a 5.5 point favorite in this game?!?! That’s scary.
It’s scary because every bone in my body is telling me the Bears will crush the Packers in this 2nd meeting of the year. Why is the line so low? I thought anything under a TD would be concerning… and here goes that 5.5… It’s at 6 now, but still. Does that mean a close game? We’ll take a win any way we can get it, but I want a massacre. We should be able to smoke them. There’s the whole angle of only having 1 week of film on Rodgers and Green Bay post McCarthy, but come on… they’re not recreating the wheel over there. And our guys and smarter than theirs, so…
Trubisky in his 2nd week back after missing time should be a whole hell of a lot better… he better be. Everybody is healthy, except for Bryce Callahan, who will miss the rest of the season (and Kyle Long of course). Bryce being out will hurt, considering how well he was playing. But McManis is no slouch. Even if he was, one weak link on this defense will not sink us; we’re too good for that. If you think this defense has forgotten for one second the GB comeback in week 1…

I hope Papa doesn’t screw us over here… as long as we win. I’m sticking to my gut. I’m going with the angle that we’re still not nationally getting the love we deserve, and Rodgers and the Pack are getting some holdover love from when they were a good team, plus their recent history against the Bears. It all changes Sunday… for the foreseeable future. Bear Down!
