December 13, 2017: Tide Turning

posted in: Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls | 1

Remember that post a few days back about the team that has the most wins since October 1st being the Cubs?  Yeah, well, since then, it has been quite the winning streak for the Chicago teams.

It’s been a combined 8 in a row between the Bears, Blackhawks, and Bulls; it’s hard to believe actually.  We would expect the Blackhawks to go on a bit of a run at some point; they are playing some good hockey.  Actually, they’re not dominating anybody, they’re just playing close games and prevailing.  Good sign long term?  Who knows, but the wins are much needed in the stacked up Western Conference.

Saw the end of the game the other night.  The 3 stars of the night sealed it.  First, it was Saadfather with a beautiful pass to Taser; he didn’t miss.  It’s good to see him score; he just hasn’t been the same.  The game then went to OT and Kaner got the breakaway goal to win.  The unsung hero in that whole play was Anisimov, who stole the puck from the guy and led Kane down the ice.  That Russian dude can play.

OK, so the Blackhawks I can believe, but then the Bears actually won a game?  It was far too long since that happened.  My hopes had reached a point that they haven’t been in a long time… and then the Bears crushed them… again.  Still, like I’ve said here earlier this week, it’s good to win.. hoping this is a sign of things to come, starting now and carrying over until next year.

I was especially shocked to see the Bulls Celtics score.  I know Kyrie was out, but damn… really?  I don’t see this continuing, although we have seen Dunn play better too.  Could we finally have an answer at PG?  The first legitimate PG since DRose was flying?  I’d be good with that, because we still need a guy… a superstar… will that be our top draft pick this year?

If we were banking on that, then we really need to slow down.  Heck, Lavine isn’t even back yet.  Could he return and this team really start rolling?  Could FredBerg actually be a good coach?  Did we really get the better of the Buckets trade?  I’m not ready to say yes to any of these questions.  I’ve been shocked, but believing it is a fluke is all I can say.

It still feels good… seeing that tide turning.  It feels damn good.  The winter is here, the temps are cold… love seeing those W’s strung together to warm us up.  Keep rolling Chicago, keep rolling.

Chicago sports teams getting hot in the cold…I like it! The Bears dominated a game…what? Yep, been a long while since we said that. How about the BHawks playing better and getting some Ws? Yeah, they have all been pretty close games, but isn’t winning the close games a sign of a good team? Sure is. Keep rolling BHawks! And the Bulls? Wow. Not real sure what to say about 4 wins in a row. Niko sparked this team? Fredberg teachings finally being listened to? Dumb luck? Who knows but it is good to see. Will it continue? Probably not so enjoy it while you can. Seems like Chi-Town rising started early!
