December 11, 2019: Tis The Season

It’s Bears Packers week; you could always feel it. I feel the hate creeping in for those bastards. If there is one team in professional sports I dislike the most, it would be them. But, this is not the time for hate; tis the season for love and joy, and nothing, not even the Crappy Cheese is going to disturb that. After all, isn’t there anything good I can say about the Packers?

Hmmm…. well, yeah, I guess there were a handful of Packers that I liked throughout my lifetime. The first one that comes to mind immediately is Reggie White. The minister of defense… why, why did he have to go play with the worst franchise in all of sports? I will never root for the Packers, but it’s hard not to like Reggie White. It’s kind of like the whole Dexter Fowler to St. Louis thing… never hear a good word out of my mouth about the Cardinals, but Fowler… man, he’s in my heart forever; can’t dislike him. It’s not exactly like that with Reggie; he never played for the Bears. But he was a class act all the way; really liked him and that Philly defense back in the day. So if there was 1 Packer that I liked, it would have to be him.

OK, so how about another one? Well, there is actually one other guy that comes to mind. He was a soft spoken WR from what I recall. He wasn’t a flashy, diva, big mouth type guy like his brother still is to this day on the TV. No, he just went about and did his job, very well I might add, unfortunately for the Bears, before injuries derailed his career. From what I can recall, he was the ultimate possession receiver. Yes, Sterling Sharpe is another guy that wore those ugly ass uniforms that I didn’t really have any ill will towards.

Of course there are those ex-Bears that played for the Packers, most notably the 1985 Bears Steve McMichael and Jim McMahon; I could never dislike them… I guess that’s a better comparison to Dexter Fowler. What they achieved here in Chicago could never be tainted by their dumb decision to play with the enemy.

I think I’m done… I honestly can’t think of any other Packer that I liked. I’d have to scroll through their all time roster, and do I really want to do that? I’d have to purchase a barf bag first… OK there was one other moment where I sort of liked someone… it was after his father died, and he torched the Raiders on MNF… that was a pretty cool moment for Brett Favre, and I did feel happy for him… just for that moment. But no, I wouldn’t put him on any list of Packers that I liked, nor would I put his step son Aaron on there. Two hall of fame QBs back to back ranging decades and all you got to show for it is 2 Super Bowls? Talking about expectations and underachieving, I think the Packers belong in that conversation…

OK, I’m going to stop now… talking about them aggravates me. I did my Christmas duty… I named a couple Packers that I did not dislike. That’s it now… let me wash out my mouth, and clear my head. It’s back to Bears Packers week, and the hate that comes with it. I hope we kick their ass. Bear Down!!!
