Now that we’ve cleared the defense of most of the blame, not rocket science by the way, let’s look at the main objection of this session, I mean season. It’s the offense… the disgusting, offensive offensive side of the ball. We all know the QB is the most important position in pretty much all of sports, and I know we know how bad the Bears have been there, and we will talk about it, but I’d like to start with the guys up front.
Any idea where the Bears offensive line ranks in pay? Have you ever heard “you get what you pay for”? The Bears OL ranks 26th out of 32 NFL teams in average salary; that’s not ideal. Does this make things a bit clearer? The top paid offensive line is probably our best. If there is 1 guy to keep, it’s Cody Whitehair. I am a James Daniels fan too; losing him for the year didn’t help. I think that’s it. Let’s look at the 2nd highest paid offensive lineman, and 9th highest paid player on our team: Charles Leno. I rest my case. Paying him the big money didn’t quite work out the way Pace expected it to. He isn’t the best, to put it nicely. Bobby Massie isn’t that far behind, in both contract and play compared with Leno. Yes, no? Do we have any other guys that are worth anything here? Well, according to what they get paid, no. We need help here, a lot of it.
Let’s take a quick peek at the skill positions before getting to the QB mess. The Graham contract is a joke; Kmet has been a huge disappointment. The tight end position, after the Olsen trade, has been lacking big time. At WR, it’s been well publicized that Robinson is in his last year; do you want to pay him elite WR money? I like him, but… Cordarelle is in his last year too; he’s probably gone. What is the solution at WR? Considering Tarik and Montgomery will be back, I’m not too worried about RB. Still, you need guys to block for them, just like you need guys to throw to the WRs… speaking about those guys.
A lot of other causes are there for the taking. When you put everything together: Management commitment, enthusiastic distributors, strong upline support, outstanding products, lucrative pay plan, plus simplicity; viagra discounts discover here it looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Kamagra discount cialis generic has turned into a great medical assistance for impotence. The Foles deal is looking worse by the week. We know Mitch is off the books. And that leaves us where exactly at the QB position? Unfortunately, Watson signed an extension in Houston. It would have been nice to get the guy I wanted on draft night even if it is 4 years later. Prescott is the biggest name out there, although coming off that gruesome injury, you ready to go all in on him? Jameis Winston could be available, but I’m not going to lie, there are slim pickings out there. Certainly feels like we need to draft one. How about packaging Eddie Jackson with our 1st round pick to move up to grab one? Out of the bad contracts we’ve talked about on both sides of the ball, he has to be the one we have the best chance of moving.
It’s not pretty. With no competent QB on our roster, and no good free agent options… with some serious help needed on the offensive line, this offense feels like it’s ways away… that’s a feeling we’re all familiar with unfortunately. Again, I don’t trust Pace to make those decisions that will get us closer, faster. We really need to score a GM that will wheel and deal us out of embarrassment territory. So much to do… and oh yeah, we still have 5 games left this year…
