We lucked out with the advanced purchase of tickets for Tuesday night’s Cubs vs Twins game at Wrigley… we got to see Shota live and in person!!! He didn’t disappoint. 7 innings & 10 strikeouts later Shota had held the Twins to two runs on two hits; unfortunately, the one hit was the 2 run homer that broke up the no-no we were hoping for in the 4th. This time, the Cubs offense did more than enough on this beautiful evening to get the W. It was a very nice night at the ballpark.
You couldn’t tell that the Cubs were a last place team at Wrigley Tuesday night. There were some seats available here and there, but for the most part, a full house to watch the Cubbies take the field. There were a good amount of Twins fans in the house; no brawls to mention… haha. I don’t see Twins fans as being aggressive in any way, although you put enough alcohol in anybody and you may just get somebody different. Going to a ballgame at Wrigley is an experience everybody should have. Unless you’re a hater, like a portion of the White Sox fanbase, probably some Cardinal and Brewer fans too, you’ll love our cathedral. I know I’m biased, but there is not a better place to watch a baseball game. I enjoy other stadiums; I’ve been to a handful… I like a few… like Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Dodger Stadium. Yet, when you walk into Wrigley, it’s a totally different ballgame. To think, that 100 years ago, there were people sitting in the stands just like you watching the Cubs play baseball; it’s really cool… this isn’t the first time I’ve talked about how much I love Wrigley, probably won’t be the last.
After the final out was recorded, we made our way down towards the Cubs dugout, my son hoping to score another postgame autograph. Last time out, another W btw, he got Assad and Morel. This time, it looked bleak. Nobody was in site, other than Nate Pearson walking the wrong way, and they were kicking us out. We slowly made our way up the seats towards the exit, when I saw PCA with I’m assuming his family. My son and his cousin were already walking down the stairs when I called them back… hoping PCA made a turn inside the dugout… he did. There were a couple people already there; I told my son and nephew… go, go, go! They did, and they both came back with PCA autos on their hats… very cool end to the evening! Thanks Pete!
2 games at Wrigley this year; we brought home Ws both times. Maybe we need to get to more games?!?! No matter the standings, a trip to Wrigley is always a good time. Sure, it’s better when they’re good… it’s better to see a win than a loss, but… it never gets old, being there, watching my team play the game I love. Until next time… Go Cubs!
