August 6, 2015: The Accused

posted in: Blackhawks | 0

When my wife mentioned Patrick Kane was in some kind of trouble, I thought maybe he punched another cabbie, or got in a fight, or something stupid. Not until I got into the airwave range of the Chicago sports stations, did I know what he was accused of. This isn’t good.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that someone famous was accused of rape.  With the involvement of high profile individuals, I wonder how often the truth is found.  Logically, you’d think if convicted, that person is guilty, and if the charges are dismissed, that person is innocent.  What the real truth is, only 2 individuals really know.

Is the woman a gold digger?  That’s one of the first questions that come to mind in these situations right or wrong. When the accused is someone that plays for your team, and not just someone, but a superstar on your team, your first instinct is to defend them.  Are these guys worth defending?

I don’t know all the details of all these accusations against superstar athletes or famous people.  I think I’ll follow this one a little more closely. Starlin Castro was accused this past offseason. That case was dismissed from what I remember.  Will that accusation stick with him forever?  Is he forever tarnished?  He seems like a space cadet on the field at times, is it believable that he would do something like that?  Who knows.

What about Jameis Winston? Not the brightest of athletes, stealing crab legs and accused of rape as well. Is he capable?  What about our young famous athlete who has a history of partying hard, and has had some run ins with the law?  Could Patrick Kane be guilty of something like this?

Personally, I don’t understand why anybody with this amount of money would do this.  Why would they have to do this?  That’s just me, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything at the end of the day. And as far as guys who you wouldn’t think are capable of doing this, what about Bill Cosby?

This sucks because it has nothing to do with sports, with Chicago sports, the stuff I love to talk about…the stuff I know something about.  So I don’t talk about it…but now it’s hit close to home, one of our biggest stars. What’s next?  Is Patrick Kane a scumbag criminal?

It’s probably best to wait until all the details come out and the investigation is completed before passing judgment.  Until then, I’ll try to stick with what I think I know. As far as the accused, I’m sure there will be more information forthcoming… I just hope he didn’t do it.
