One of the most popular games at the casinos is blackjack; the game is over 300 years old. They say it originated in France; it was called Vingt-et-un. I do remember some French from all those years ago in high school; that means 21! But why Blackjack? Supposedly there was a bonus paid out in this game that consisted of the Ace of Spades and a Black Jack… and the rest is history. I prefer single deck, or even double deck, vs the whole 6 deck shoe. It slows down the game a bit; it limits the bad runs, since the shuffle happens more frequently. It allows the table to enjoy the game a bit more, BS, have some drinks if in Vegas, etc. I don’t like playing for high minimums either, which is the only option some nights; I prefer $5, but can certainly work with $10. I was taught years ago in Vegas how to press my bets, adding another chip for a win, resetting to the original bet with a loss. My first trip to Vegas ever was highlighted with potentially my best run of blackjack ever, where I played into the early morning, making up all the money I had lost on the trip prior to that evening… good old Westward Ho; I was rolling. The White Sox on the other hand, well… they’re rolling all right, downhill; they hit blackjack in Oakland on Monday night losing their 21st game in a row.

This is a streak of historic proportions; even I don’t want to see them break the record for futility. I tried to do what I could in this one, placing my 2nd bet (1st was on the Bears in the HOF game, that didn’t qualify since the game got called early) since the end of the Stanley Cup Finals on the Athletics; surely this would equal a Sox win… nope; it did equal the first positive entry into my Draft Kings account since then though… I’m not too upset. How can you lose 21 straight games? They tied the 1988 Orioles who started that season on a 21 game losing streak; ouch! This streak is reminding me of Moneyball, except opposite; it’s kind of fitting that they’re in Oakland right now. You know… if the Sox were to break the record losing streak, it would be against the Cubs on Friday… full circle.

Not sure how their manager can continue to hold onto his job. I know it’s not all his fault, but… somebody has to take the fall for this, and I know Jerry isn’t selling the team, so… For a guy that made many good moves over his days with the Bulls and Sox, he certainly has botched up both teams recently, putting the Bulls in a steady state of mediocrity while completely blowing the window that had opened for the Sox not all that long ago. If anybody should go, it should be him, but that’s not going to happen. They already dumped a bunch of players; time to reset at the managerial position… no need to wait until the offseason. The season is already over, it’s been over; try to build any ounce of positive momentum by canning that dude. Then, how about this? Actually bring in a manager worth a shit, not one with zero experience, not one with a foot in the grave. This job should be attractive, because they know they’ll do better than this year; you can’t possibly do worse! 22 on deck…
