Fantasy Football is back. As draft night rolled around, I was surprisingly unprepared. It’s amazing how work gets in the way… I needed to cram for the draft and compile my information in about 30 minutes. I wonder how my team will do.
Don’t worry, I won’t bore you to death with a fantasy feature this year. I did say I was going to do an against the spread one though… forgot about that. Anyways, you don’t want to hear about my fantasy team. Last year was brutal. Not only did the Bears suck, but my fantasy team sucked… my fantasy picks sucked… football was flushed down the drain, until the Packers got Bostick’d. That salvaged the year… it made me forget about the horror that was NFL 2014. Let’s hope this year is a little better all the way around.
So I wanted to go all in for Andrew Luck. I never, ever take a top tier QB. I never drafted one high when we did snake draft, and I never paid much since we’ve been doing auction. So I wondered if that’s why I sucked last year… Anyways, I told myself I’d go to $60… and I did… and I lost out on him at $61. Damn principles. I try to stay disciplined, but end up being pissed off. Then I proceeded to watch a bunch of good players go off the board. I even stopped bidding on Forte earlier than normal. I was out of sorts. This year is already shot. What the heck am I doing?

I thought I could use last year’s draft strategy… but then I remembered I finished 8th. I really only had a few players circled on my board, so I started feeling better about myself when my first pick was one of those guys. Justin Forsett. Yeah, I know… not too flashy. He had a breakout year this year. The Ravens are one of the best OLs in the NFL. Marc Trestman is the OC. I’m in a PPR league. Yeah, it made sense to me. So there, the ice was broken… I was out of my funk, and my team was started.
So I added Gore, AJ Green, Jordan Matthews, and Andre Johnson. I didn’t feel too bad. My team is so so. Then came the QB pick. I stuck to my limit and didn’t get the #1 overall, so I was back where I usually was; looking at mid tier talent. Last year I got stuck with Cutler trying to bid up somebody… that same guy was involved with this year’s QB drama. This time it was Tony Romo. I hate him. He screwed me 3 years ago… 4 years ago… something like that, when in the fantasy championship game he got knocked out after the first series. Cost me the title. So I got him.. and I got Cutler… 2 of the QBs I hate the most are now on my team. I hate that.
So then I was out of money. I like my Allen Robinson pick and got some pretty decent dollar TEs with Ladarius Green and Jermaine Gresham. My bench is pretty weak. This might be another long year. The worst part about it, is that we didn’t even get together this year. Drafted from home… a little over 3 hours, and I’m dead tired. Since I was the last guy drafting, it took the guys first in my queue, and now I don’t even have a defense. That’s just kind of how the night went. Welcome to NFL 2015. Hey, at least I’m still in first place in fantasy baseball…
