August 26, 2015: Baywatch

Who didn’t like that show?  I mean, Pamela Anderson in her prime.. that red bathing suit.  I would dream of having to be saved by her… her lifting my big ass out of the ocean… plopping me down in the sand.. and proceeding to give me mouth to mouth.  I’m sure we all thought that watching Baywatch on the TV; heck, there was even Hasselhoff for the ladies… ha!  Although nothing can top Knight Rider…classic.

OK, so we’re not watching re-runs of this show, however, we are playing close attention to the action by the bay this week.  And no, not Green Bay… by the way, for the record, I did shed a tear when I heard about Jordy Nelson earlier this week.  And if you believe that, I have a 93 maxima I’d like to sell you for 10 grand.  And no, not Tampa Bay.  Remember when they were in the Bears division?  That was fun beating up on them every year with those orange unis.. nice helmets though back in the day.

No, today, it’s that San Francisco bay we’re talking about.  I really like that city.  We had a ball there.  Alcatraz was awesome.  The trolleys are cool.  The hills are a little crazy, but it’s a city… like Chicago, like New York.  Ton of stuff to do.  Will definitely make the trip back at some point.. maybe Cubs game… maybe Bears.  Their ball park is awesome too.  McCovey Cove… flat screen TVs everywhere… the food… it’s all good.  I liked it way more than LA… which is where the Cubbies will be heading next.  But for now…

The Cubs started a 3 game set against the Giants, their closest competitor for that 2nd wild card spot.  The only thing I was worried about is if we got swept.  Well, we took care of that Tuesday night.  A Schwarber 3 run bomb followed by a Montero 2 run bomb staked the Cubs a 5-0 lead.  It was 8-0 before you know it, but the Giants came back to make it 8-5 before it was all said and done.  First game, Cubs win.

How about Starlin Castro?  Well, where has that been all year?  He looked like the Starlin of old, prompting Maddon to say that was his best game of the year.  Now only if he could repeat that effort… at least once a week?  Better than once a year.  I still say he’ll never play SS for the Cubs again.  That’s Russell’s spot for here on out.  2B could be his… for now.   Nice game though Castro!

Wednesday night was a different result.  A 4-2 Cubs loss, and we’re all so devastated.  21-4 in the last 25… can’t keep that pace up.  There will be more losses Cubs fans… it’s OK… it’s bound to happen.  Anways, the rubber match is Thursday afternoon.  The only problem is that Madison Baumgarner is on the mound for the Giants… world series MVP… big time clutch pitcher.  We missed him in our sweep of the Giants in Wrigley… didn’t get so lucky here.  Still, the bats have been red hot… I still like our chances.

So let’s get the series win… or not.  Worst case, we’ll still hold a 5.5 game lead on that 2nd wild card, although I’d like to continue to focus on catching the Pirates and Cardinals; it can still be done!  Quick prediction for today… we get to Madbum early for a few runs… give up the lead… and come back against their pen to win 6-4.  GO CUBS!

Well, another prediction down the drain as the Cubs got smashed by gmen and bum…series lost but still up 5.5. Onto to lala land…time to take care of business Cubs and win the series.

    GO CUBS GO!!!
