I’m not only talking about fantasy football… I’m talking about for the first time in a long time being excited about the Bears. Such a big part of it was due to addition by subtraction at the most important position in the game.
With pout pout face leaving, and the drafting of Mitchell, the Bears future looks 10x brighter. Yes, I know they haven’t gotten over their “promise” to Glennon that this is his team, but they will… it’ll happen. Personally, I thought starting Trubisky on Sunday would make a lot of sense. Number one, you figure out if Mitch can play with the 1s. If he can’t, then OK; the dogs are temporarily called off. You can continue with the stopgap Glennon plan. If he plays lights out, then I think it’s case closed.
The other half of that is letting Glennon play against the 2s and 3s. He most certainly should shine there, right? Again, if not, then the decision is that much easier to make. It doesn’t matter if they both play good in this scenario; Mitch’s performance will outweigh Mike’s. If one or the other play better, than it’s easy. If they both played bad, then you ride with Glennon for starters. It helps make the decision for the Bears, and appeases us die hards, and everybody else who thinks it’s already Mitch time.
Regardless, whether the Bears stick to their plan of Glennon at 1, and regardless of how long that will last, we’ve seen a glimpse of the future; it’s exciting. To think, we may actually have a QB on the roster who is worth a shit. Somebody who can be THE guy; not a fraud like #6. Somebody with some personality, character, leadership skills, confidence… a winner. Somebody who will make everyone around him better; somebody who will give that extra motivation to everybody to bust their ass. I did say we just saw a glimpse…

Jordan Howard can play; the rookie Cohen looks like a nice change of pace too. We drafted that TE high; he’s a monster. Yes, the WRs are still a bit of a mystery, but the OL is decent; and isn’t that important? Kind of like the front 7 on D. Vic has a little talent on D, at least up front. The secondary is a bit of a mystery, but the D has looked pretty good. So good running game, good OL, and good front 7… hmmm.
We weren’t expecting much at first, but our confidence… OK, at least my confidence is growing a bit. Maybe they could beat Atlanta week 1? Pittsburgh, Green Bay… maybe we can split those? Yeah, we know about the start of the schedule, but have you seen the end? Not too bad… Trubisky definitely starting by then, no?
Let me enjoy my little fantasy. I’ve been crushed before, it’s OK… I can take it. Let me drink my Trubisky kool aid. Let me think this D is going to be in the top half of the league. Let me think Howard will be in the pro bowl, legitimately this time. Let me dream of a season where expectations are exceeded; let me forget about all those that fell short. I know the Cubs are still doing their thing, and I’m all on that, but this Bears team…. yeah, I am ready for some football. Bear Down!

Excitement for the Bears? Yes, please! Too many times in the past year or few, Bears games have been hard to watch, especially with cutler behind center. He is gone and there might be light at the end of this dark tunnel. The #6 era is over. The #10 era is just beginning. He has played well so far this preseason. Definitely seems ahead of schedule but hard to say playing as a 3rd stringer. Maybe being the guy will bring down the excitement but who knows. It does seem like the Bears are going to stick with “glennon is the guy” approach, which may be fine…for now. But Trubisky has shown himself very well and given thought to him taking the reins NOW. It does not look like that to start the season, but it may happen quicker than the mid-way point. 5.5 wins this year? Give me the over on that and under on MTru starting by week 8. Excitement for the Bears is a damn good thing. Football is almost here…BEAR DOWN!!!
