Lots of movement for the Cubs roster… lots of addition and subtraction. Every pickup cannot work, but thankfully, enough work to keep the Cubs atop the National League.
The offseason starting pitching acquisitions appear to be done for the year. Yu Darvish, the big money man, the Jake replacement, is done for the season. How does that make you feel? I’m OK… for now. Now that we have some sort of confirmation regarding his injury, I feel a little better… Yu feels the same. Unfortunately, injuries do happen; the Cubs have had their fair share this year. Yu’s 2018 season can be chalked up… it was a total wash out. The thing is, we have 5 more years of this deal… I thought it was 4, but think it’s 5. We can still get our money’s worth out of Yu during this timeframe. Shut him down, and completely focus on this… being healthy for 2019. If he comes back and deals with more injuries, and has another wash out of a year… now, it’s really bad. I know people are pissed as it is, but I’m in an OK place with Yu so far… after all, our other starting pitcher we acquired this offseason has been so good…
I’m kidding of course. Chatwood has been a train wreck. The Cubs put him on the DL… I see teams are using the DL just to rest folks, or give them a break when they are sucking big time. Chris Sale is on the DL again for the Red Sox, killing my fantasy team, just because the Red Sox are out to a huge lead. Addison Russell has been brutal this year…. now he’s on the DL; same for Chatty. A case of “walkitis” is what I heard on the radio this morning, I’d be happy if we never saw him pitch again… this year. Same type of end result for Chatwood as it is with Yu; 2018 can be chalked up… it’s been a wash out. Tyler’s goal should be doing everything in his power to come back and be better… a lot better, in 2019. Hopefully this acquisition can still provide some benefit.

The good side of this type of behavior is that it restores the balance in the body improving not only the reproductive system cialis uk but the entire state of health. The guy that we scooped up from Texas has been our savior. Cole Hamels… good Lord… he was outstanding again on Thursday night against the Reds. Complete game winner! His value has been seen on the mound, but you have to think there’s more to it. His discussions with Lester about pitching stuff… two of the best lefties out there. His talks with Hendricks about the change up… two of the best change ups out there. His presence should help Q too… another quality left hander. The move to acquire him became that much more important because of the 2 lost starters mentioned above. Without Hamels, I’d be worried. With the way he is pitching right now, I feel like we have enough in the rotation.
Of course Murphy was the latest one; love that move.. especially with the year Addy has had. But how about the bullpen arms we acquired? Cishek has been phenomenal. Morrow was good, but has now been hurt; getting him back healthy would be a big boost. Then Chavez and Kintzler… the bullpen has some depth. Who will be in Maddon’s circle of trust, which shrinks the further along the season we get?
Overall, are we better off from the additions? Yes. I love that they don’t stop looking for ways to improve this team, whether it be little or big deals. The Cubs may not be done yet this year! I think the front office has done more than enough to put this team in position to win it all again. It’s time for these guys to produce on the field. 2-1 so far in the 23 games in 23 days; time to get hot. Go Cubs!!!

Theo and company are always looking for ways to improve the Cubs. That is great and what every front office should be doing for their clubs. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. It is right now for the Cubs, and we should be thankful. Yes, not every move pays off, but as long as they are done with the interest of helping the Cubs, how can we be upset? I get the frustration with Yu, but why so upset? The guy is and probably has been hurt all year. Now, he is shut down. Fine. Get healthy. You still have a few years to make up for it. A healthy Yu next year will be like the Cubs just gained another ace. Chatwood has been a wreck. I do not understand why he cannot get the ball over the plate. He might be done this year. I would think no playoff spot for him, which means he can get right this offseason and be a welcome addition back to the Cubs next year. Hamels has been aWesome! The bullpen additions have been pretty damn good with a Morrow return hopefully to come. Thanks for trying Theo! Cub nation appreciates it! GO CUBS GO!!!
