Birthdays were always such a big deal. Whether parties, dinners, or vacations, we always celebrated birthdays the right way. This year was no different.
It’s like celebrating the little wins along the way of a great season, like each week of the 85 Bears season, or every game which MJ laced up those shoes, or the recent Stanley Cup runs of the Hawks, and currently, this Cubs season. You have to enjoy the ride. Birthdays are like those little wins. It’s your day. Celebrate it.
Whether it’s a 16 game football season, 82 game basketball and hockey, or 162 in baseball, there’s plenty of ups and downs. Move past the downs, and savor the ups. So in this 365 days a year life of ours, we can apply that same philosophy. Some are more memorable than others, but they should all be celebrated.
This one was a memorable one. The birthday celebrations had it all; I couldn’t be happier. In celebrating the last of the glory years, as I’ve referred to 39 as, it was done right. Spending time with the ones I love is always a priority; and this day was no different… this weekend was no different. It was a long and very fun weekend… I wish I had taken off Monday.

Not much to complain about there… I appreciate all the teams effort on this special day.
This day is always more special than just your average birthday. That’s because my day is shared with the two people who made this day possible. Yes, I was born on my parents’ 6th anniversary. Always a joint celebration… and with a brother in law’s birthday 6 days apart, it turns into the triple play, multiplying the reasons to celebrate.
3 or 9 or 39, we’ve always celebrated. I don’t care what people say, birthdays are just as important to celebrate as you get older; you don’t just stop celebrating them. I don’t think that will ever change. Past, present, and future, some things will not change. The celebration method may vary from year to year, but we will always treat this day as a little win. We’ve made it through another year… hopefully wiser.
This long weekend is wearing on my brain now… so I think I’ll end this. Still have today’s to do. Until then… keep celebrating…
