August 16, 2016: Double Time

Does anyone get paid double time anymore?  Maybe on a holiday?  I don’t…wish I did. Heck, even those days of overtime are long gone. It’s like, you have a 40 hour a week job, but are expected to work extra with no extra pay.  The more hours you work, the less per hour you make. How much are you really making an hour?

I would be just fine with straight time. I work 50, I get paid for 50.  I think that’s how they do it some places; maybe some places in Canada. I know consultants get paid like that; that’s where I need to be. But…I’m not complaining, really. I just think what’s fair is fair.  At least there should be some comp time.  We try to make up some of that time, or better yet, keep as close to that 40 as possible. Sometimes, it’s not possible.

I don’t think baseball players get paid double time or OT for a doubleheader. It sounds ridiculous when you consider the money they’re making.  I wonder if it’s different in California, where they have the daily OT rules.  What’s fair is fair right?  I’m sure they’ve addressed that somewhere in the players association and contracts.  Maybe they should get paid double time only if they win both games; I would have been fine with that after the Cubs took both games in Tuesday’s doubleheader vs the brew crew.

Yes, we really do have to play these games. Man do they suck.  I know we’re good and all… like best team in baseball good, but wow. But you have to beat everyone on your schedule.  The good ones and the bad ones are all falling at the bats and arms of the Cubs.  The Brewers were just another bug on our windshield.

Back to double time, Rizzo made 2 unbelievable plays in the field, one in each game. He had some help on the first one. He slid and fielded a shot down the line, threw to first where Cahill made an unbelievable stretch and catch for the bang bang out. Speaking about Cahill, is any starter taking the hill for the Cubs these days awesome?   That is, everybody not named Matusz. Trevor pitched well in his spot start; will he be on the playoff roster?

Rizzo will, and he was back at it in game 2. We all remember the catch last year on top of the tarp. Well, he was back at it again. He stood on top of the concrete wall this time, as he reached into the stands to snare a pop up.  Just flat out awesome. That’s the best word to describe both plays; that’s the best way to describe the entire team right about now.

Right back on the winning track for the boys. There would be two more games against this little league team to go.  Maybe the Cubs should only get paid half time against these losers?

Get paid for what you work, pretty simple concept. You work 40, get paid 40. You work 60, get paid 60. Not real hard is it? It shouldnt be at least.
As for the Cubs, they have been working hard this 2nd half after limping to the all star break. Their pitching has been amazing again! Cahill fills in nicely and should be on the playoff roster. Rizzo makes an unbelievable catch…again! How good is he with the glove? How good are the Cubs right now? Best in baseball!
    GO CUBS GO!!!
