August 14, 2015: That Good

posted in: Cubs, White Sox | 1

Crosstown series started back up and the adrenaline was flowing.  This game had its ups and downs, but in the end, the Cubs prevailed. 8 in a row and counting.

Everything is magnified in these games. I’ve actually been in really good groove catching most Cubs games lately.  It’s been fun. When it comes to Cubs Sox, this year for the first time in a long time, I couldn’t miss a pitch. It was time to walk around at work with my cell phone, following closely. Heck, it was time to leave early and turn on Pat and Ron to get me home.

I picked it up in the bottom of the 2nd, and the Sox were on Hendricks for the 2nd inning in a row. Based loaded with Abreu at the plate. With the Sox already up 2-1, it was a big early moment, and Pat was right. After striking out Abreu, he said that may be the biggest out Hendricks got today. Maddon should have pulled him then. Kyle just didn’t have it today.

The Shark didn’t either. He barely made it out of the first inning himself.  But Ventura kept him in long enough to give up enough home runs to get the loss.  It was none other than Chris Coghlan who did him in. The three run bomb had me yelling on the expressway, and no not at somebody driving 40 while texting. His 2nd blast followed by a moonshot by Rizzo gave the Cubs enough runs for the day.

Man was I glad to rock samardzjia. It’s not like I needed that to make me feel the Cubs did the right thing last year. I see that every day watching Russell play the field. By the way, we’ve seen Castro play his last game at SS. If the Cubs keep him, it will be at second, and actually, the mention of Utley is intriguing. He can help for this year and maybe next while Baez gets ready to return. Sorry starlin..it is what it is.

No, I wanted to see jeff get rocked because he’s playing on the other side of town now. I may be cheering for him had he went elsewhere, but instead I smile everytime he gets racked.  Still happy with the Sox jeff?  They’re done with you, and this just wasn’t any game buddy. It’s the civil war and you took one on the chin. And yeah, the Cubs are that good.

Or are they?  It’s not like the Sox are a quality team. They’re a step up from the Brewers, but still. But still, all the cubs do nowadays is win, and I’m loving every minute, especially against the cross town bums. Can’t wait for tomorrow. Go Cubs!

Gonna be a hot weekend…tempers might flare, benches might empty, here’s to having a cold one for the Cubbies! Keep that sunscreen handy sox…gonna need it for the hot weather and the scorching Cubs!
