I’ll be the first one to tell you that I don’t care about preseason football. I never make time to watch it. Wake me when the regular season starts. I’ll also tell you how pissed I was this past draft day, when the Bears traded up one spot to take Trubisky. Tell me this then. Why did I record the first Bears preseason game this year?
Because I wanted to see what this Trubisky kid could do. We trade up a spot to grab this kid at number two overall and he is immediately slotted as the number 3 QB behind nobody in particular? I found that kind of odd. I know they want to protect their investment, and bring him along slowly; I understand that. So, you’re telling me this might be the only chance to see this kid play this year… in the preseason? OK then; Bears preseason football has just become must watch TV.
So I recorded it… and I watched it all… It’s funny how 1 preseason game changes everything… because it did. Yes it did!
I’m not going to start planning the parade, but I sure did think about getting my son a Trubisky jersey. Don’t tell me not to get too excited. Remember who you’re talking to here: a die hard Bears fan. Yes, I know all about our QB history that the national guys love to throw up on that screen. Yes, I lived through the misery and disappointment of the Cutler era. Yes, I freaked out on draft day when they traded up one spot to get a guy that would have been there on our pick. Yes, I hoped for the best; I hoped Pace was right. Well, as far as debuts go, he nailed it.
The kid just looked like he had “it”. He passed the eye test. He was mobile and accurate. He played confident and brought a feeling of excitement to the entire fan base. Yes, I’m talking about Mitchell Trubisky.
Well what happened to Mike Glennon? He threw a pick six on his second pass, bringing back memories of Cutler. He’s also wearing the number 8 which isn’t too easy on the eyes for us that remember other Bears QBs who donned that number. He seems kind of goofy. He was brought here to be a placeholder. Well, it turns out, we may not need one. And Sanchez? Yes, he’ll look really good on the sidelines helping with the play calls and holding the clipboard.

Let’s not act like we’re not heading that way… in a hurry. This one game… this one performance… will snowball like crazy. Imagine if he threw a last second TD pass and converted a 2 point conversion for the win? It would already be over.
Yet, after the game… Fox says the depth chart will not change. Glennon looks forward to Arizona next week. Mitchell says that it’s still Mike’s team. I don’t want to hear that. What did Mike do besides being overpaid by the Bears to be a placeholder QB during our rebuild to earn that? Mike’s team? Unless we’re talking about the Ditka Bears, or unless Mitchell starts going by Mike, like my great uncle, then do not tell me that.
It is HIS team you know. Who else did the Bears draft? A RB, who besides running out of bounds on one play, looked pretty good. A TE, who is a beast, who they tried to get a TD to. The Bears brought Trubisky in with the ball in Broncos territory for his first drive; they want him to succeed. Fox’s job is on the line. Pace’s longevity will be linked to Trubisky’s success. The future is now everybody.
So let’s all stop kidding ourselves. We can drop the company line of it still being Mike’s team. If Trubisky is better, then he should be starting… period. But we paid Glennon all this money… so what? It’s not that much… look how much we threw away on Cutler.
I felt an excitement watching this game that I haven’t felt in a long time as a Bears fan. I get it. The more excited you get, the harder you fall if it doesn’t pan out; who you telling? This is the roller coaster that we ride as die hards. And guess what… the ride has just begun. Bear Down!!!

Must watch tv??? HAHAHA…that’s funny. Who would have thought? Bears 1st preseason game. Is that how far they have fallen or just excitement for their #1 pick this year? Maybe both. Mitchell Trubisky drafted as the future franchise qb but slotted in the 3rd qb role. Mike Glennon’s team? Yeah, ok. He can’t be much worse than he was after a 2nd attempt int for a td, but how much better will he be? MTru looked pretty damn good when he came in. A reason for hope and excitement among Bears fans. Is he the light at the end of the tunnel? How soon will that tunnel end? Pump the brakes after this first outing but a definite glimmer of something for the Bears and us fans. Fox says no change in the depth chart. Fine. For now. I say, put MTru in against a first team D next preseason game and see what happens. Could it be, he is the guy? Say it is so! The roller coaster is definitely going up at this point. There will be some dips, but how long before MTru is in charge of it? I agree with bringing him along slowly, but I guess if he can make the Bears competitive now, why the hell not let him do it. He cant be worse than the last few years…hahaha. So what’s the prediction now? Will MTru be leading the Bears at some point this year? If so, what week? My guess…yes he will in week 6. BEAR DOWN!!!
