August 11, 2016: Bear Up

posted in: Bears, Cubs | 1

We interrupt this regularly scheduled Cubs blog for a Bears one.  With the Cubs in the midst of maybe their greatest season ever, I’m in no hurry for the NFL season.  Unlike some of the down years, where we can’t wait for football to begin, this year, the Bears can take their time.  I guess they got the memo.  The Bears got shutout in their preseason debut 22-0.

So we’ve been over this before… and my thoughts on NFL preseason football.  It’s worthless and I’m not interested.  Unless you are gambling on the games, which was one of my best areas back in the day, or heading to the game because it’s a lot cheaper than a regular season game, I’m not paying any attention.  I seem to be in the minority.

Checking Twitter on Thursday night as the Bears game began, it was blowing up.  Bears, bears, bears, and more bears.  It was almost a play by play coverage, as everyone was ready for some football.  So, it was hard to completely ignore.  With the Olympics on, and the Cubs, the Bears were my 3rd choice for viewing on Thursday night.  Only if nothing else was on, would I have tuned in.  I didn’t miss much.

Now that the game is in the books, why is everyone freaking out?  It’s preseason people!  I heard Jay getting interviewed after the game, and getting grilled for his team’s performance…  really?

To start with, you need to know sildenafil cheap about your condition. It is vital to note down that purchase viagra in uk medicines don’t provide assurance for heal against ADD Treatment. Give it a break people.  Regardless of how the Bears play in this preseason, it will not impact the season.  Remember who went 1-3 in the preseason back 31 years ago.  Like the Rock said, it doesn’t matter.

I should know better though.  We are nuts for our Bears.  I am too… just nowhere near ready to kick it into gear yet.  I have even turned off sports radio when they start talking Bears.  I’m not ready for some football.  I have my fantasy draft coming up, and I have no clue.  I just looked at stuff the other day for about 5 minutes…  I need to ramp that up a bit.  If you’re not half way prepared for an auction draft with guys who are, you could be in trouble.  I could be in trouble.

But, I’m not worried about our Bears.  I take comfort in Fox’s records the past 2 second years with his teams.  I know the defense will be better with the additional talent Fangio has to work with.  We should know what to expect, or not to expect from Jay already; I’m hoping the line can keep it together… losing Grasu for the year didn’t help.  I’m curious how Kevin White will be, and if Alshon can stay on the field.  Overall, I’m expecting better than last year period.

Calm down everybody.  Let’s enjoy the Cubs as much as we can.  Let’s hope we don’t have to worry about the Bears until November.  I will no doubt be watching every Bears regular season game, but won’t be getting completely zoned in until the Cubs are done playing for the year.  Not quite ready to Bear Down… so how about Bear Up?

Bears played? And got shutout? Wow. Ok, ok, I knew they were playing and saw them down 20-0 but had no idea what the final was, nor did I care. It is the preseason…pretty much practice games before the real games start in a few weeks. It is hard to get into the Bears right now with the Cubs playing so well, but I will be. Sundays will be Bear days soon. Just stay healthy, gel as a team, and get ready for real games…who cares about these fake ones!
    BEAR DOWN!!!
