From all 4 teams playing to only 1…what a downer. And then that one team is the White Sox; they are the black sheep of Chicago sports.
Ok, I know everybody does not agree with that opinion, but it is my blog. Out of the 5 major sports teams in Chicago, and no, I’m not counting the Fire all you soccer fanatics, the Sox come in last. I try not to dislike them… I try not to root against them…I don’t watch them that often.
Wednesday night I did have a reason to root against them. My fantasy pitcher was on the hill. Sonny Gray was on the mound and he was dealing. The Sox undefeated streak is over. I wasn’t devastated.

I look at the name on that jersey…Chicago…and think, I can’t root against them. It’s just this whole Cubs Sox thing. With so much of my heart with the Cubs, maybe I just don’t have enough love to spread around. With my heart with the Bears, Bulls, and Blackhawks too, I ain’t got nothing left to give to the Sox. It wasn’t always that way, but it is now; don’t see it changing.
I try not to let the Sox bother me; some of their jerky fans do. I don’t watch many of their games. I’m not really concerned about the result. I’m happy for all the good Sox fans that I know when they’re doing well. Only during the Crosstown games do I really start to dislike them. Maybe it’s because they finally got their World Series and the Cubs don’t have theirs yet. I’m not afraid to admit it. Like I said, I can be a hater.
Hey, at least I’m centering my attention on the Sox for a day…even if it is a shorty. Remember, there was no one else playing. Still, I always have choices. And today, I chose to talk White Sox. Yes, it is a rarity to get a whole dedicated blog, so savor it Sox fans, even though it’s really not that flattering. I’m just keeping it real. That’s all I can do. Bye bye black sheep for now..see you soon.

It’s pretty narrow of a guy who is a self-proclaimed “Die-Hard Chicago Sports Fan” to even think about rooting against a Chicago team, let alone put it in print for everyone to read. I guess I can somehow understand if it comes from the fact that the Sox basically swept their way to the title in 2005. Going 11-1 through the playoffs winning 3-0 against the Red Sox, then 4-1 against the Angels before sweeping the outmatched Astros out of the World Series. But if you are truly a “Die-Hard Chicago Fan”, the only time you should root against the Sox is when they play your beloved Cubs. That I would understand, especially since I am just the opposite of that. While the Sox are obviously my team, I do cheer for the Cubs except for that series.

Not a sox fan but I do not root against them. Have probably been to more sox games than Cub games, especially when I was a kid, but I have always been a Cubs fan first, except when the Cubs were a pony baseball team I had to beat. The cell is fine, but the area around is not. The sox are ok, except those fans that have nothing better to do but trash the Cubs. The reality of it is that the Cubs come first in Chicago. This is not a shot at the sox or their fans…it is just a fact. I do not follow the sox that much because I can only be a die hard baseball fan for one team, and that is the Cubbie blue. Have a good year sox…win your division, make the world series, but lose every game to the Cubs, including those in the world series. GO CUBS GO!!!
