April 6, 2015: Shutout

posted in: Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs | 1

This isn’t the way I wanted to start the week.  It was an across the board shutout on Sunday, with the Bulls losing in Cleveland, the Hawks losing at home against the Blues, and the Cubs losing opening night at Wrigley vs the Cardinals.  Just, plain, ugly.

It’s bad enough to lose all 3 games; it’s even worse when the Hate Files are involved.  It’s been too long since I’ve opened a new one, but the old ones were rattling on this Sunday.  Lebron, the resident of the biggest Hate File, is such a punk.  Yeah, and not just because he is the Bulls nemesis… well, that has a lot to do with it, but he is such a little whiny bitch.  I watched on and off, and then caught most of the 4th.  I saw him crying to the officials; typical, actually the whole Cavalier team has inherited that trait from him.  I heard the announcers hugging his nuts; after a nice dunk, Mark Jackson said “he is risen”.  You have to be kidding me.  I lost all respect for Mark Jackson after that comment.  Talk about someone who must be bitter…. guy comes in, takes over your job with essentially the same roster, and turns in the best record in the NBA.  Guess you did suck Mark… and now, all that’s left, is to hug Lebrons testicles.  You’re doing a fine job Mark.

I was glad to see Noah get in his face again.  Yeah, we haven’t done anything against Lebron when it counts, losing all 3 playoff series against his teams, but something tells me we’ll get another chance.  Something tells me that JR Smith will not go 8-17 from 3 pt land… ever… again.  Something tells me the Cavs won’t hit like 3 half court shots.  Something tells me that this was the last “free” lesson we’ll be getting this year from the Cavs, and next time, it will really count.  I hope we took good notes…  I hope we’re ready.

I saw absolutely zero of the Hawks game, so I really can’t comment much on that.  Last year’s series vs the Blues was a doozy; would we be able to oust them when it counts again without Kane?  The Hawks have been playing well, so hopefully this is just a blip.  I was liking the momentum they were riding coming down the stretch.

Then there’s the Cubs.  I waited all off season for this night, and we get zip, zilch, nada.  This opening night shutout loss comes at the hands of the baseball team I hate the most.  Their ace was on point; he’s definitely no slouch.  Although we did have our chances…. 3 leadoff doubles that I remember went by the board.  Lester pitched OK.  It sucks that he was on a short leash.  I’m hoping Maddon is just being overly cautious here… our million dollar man held to a pitch count in his first game with his new team… his first game with that fat new contract.  That had to weigh on his head a little bit… knowing that he would be pulled come that magic number of pitches.  Either way, it’s still a disappointing way to start the season.  Either way, it’s only 1 of 162…. I’m trying to cheer myself up.

It was the trifecta of losses.  We lost to Lebron… and the Cardinals on the same day.  It was Easter Sunday… why is the hate flowing?  It’s a happy day, hope everyone had a good one.  Hope everyone had a good one before our teams pulled the O fer.  It sucks to get shutout, especially this way.  I’m going to try to move on from this day… quickly.

Bulls need a Rose, Hawks need that Kane, and Cubs need some time to gel.
