“The gat’s by your liver, your upper lip quiver, get ready to die, tell God I said hi” Yeah buddy… it would truly be “Unbelievable” if the Bulls were to pull off an upset tonight in Milwaukee. It was bad enough before the news of Caruso in concussion protocol; if that wasn’t bad enough, how about Zach in COVID protocol? Both have been ruled out for tonight’s funeral, I mean, for Game 5 by the way.
Guy asked me the other day if I was a Bulls fan before MJ; I kind of chuckled. I know where he was going with this. Like, sure, you’re a Bulls fan BECAUSE of MJ… it’s not like you were a fan of the “Cocaine Cowboys” that came before him, right? Well, he caught me for a second… then I remembered, I was 7 years old when the Bulls drafted Jordan. So… I didn’t know the Bulls before MJ. So, yeah, although he is right, it’s not for the reason he thought. If I was older, I would have supported the Bulls, because they are Chicago’s team, and that’s what I do… except when it comes to baseball, but that’s another story. I can’t be blamed for the fact that the first Bulls team I grew up rooting for had MJ on it… perfect timing some may say. On the other hand, after seeing MJ and the Bulls and the dynasty with the 6 rings, I think… I’ve already seen more than some will see in a lifetime. I got to watch the greatest of all time play on a nightly basis, 82 times a year, plus some. All these discussions about greatest ever, greatest team ever… I know the answer to that; we had the ultimate ace in the hole. You give me any of the Bulls championship teams with Jordan, and I’ll tell you who’ll win the series; it’s that simple. Unfortunately, MJ ain’t coming out of retirement any time soon to help the Bulls tonight.
We were spoiled back then, plain and simple. Us Bulls fans lucky enough to be alive during that time, have already reached the pinnacle. How do they say… it’s all downhill from here. Of course, there are more hills to climb, and winning another NBA title is certainly something I want to see in my lifetime; call me greedy. I thought the Thibs Bulls would surely bring #7 home; injuries derailed us then. Injuries have hurt this year’s team’s chances too; it happens… still sucks though. Yet, nobody will feel bad for us; why should they? I wouldn’t if the tables were turned. This year’s Bulls team was fun as hell to watch. They accomplished their goal of getting back to the postseason; something to be proud of for sure. Unfortunately, the ride will be over tonight, in a quick 5 games in the first round series vs the Bucks. Unfortunately, this ending will be unhappy for the 24th year in a row…
It hurts, but let’s not hang our heads; it would be nice to go out with a fight at least, but make no mistake, we are going out. I wanted to get part of the eulogy out of the way today, as I feel like the Bucks will make their Hate File entry official after tonight; I’m ready. Too bad the Bulls weren’t ready. Time to go…
