April 26, 2015: One Down

It was supposed to be closing time across the board yesterday, but we only got one.  We got the one we really needed, and we’ll have to wait until Monday night to get the other one.

The Bulls started the day off battling the Bucks in Milwaukee, or as we call it, United Center North.  There were more Bulls fans at this game than at Game 3.  Bucks fans, knowing the writing on the wall, were selling tickets left and right, and with it being a weekend day, that hour and a half drive was made by many.  The Bulls gave them a good game, but couldn’t give them the ultimate satisfaction, and that’s eliminating the Bucks from this year’s playoffs.

The Bucks don’t even deserve to be here.  Let’s be honest, 3 of the 8 Eastern Conference playoff teams don’t deserve to be here.  My wife couldn’t understand why these teams were in the playoffs, while OKC sat watching from home.  It’s that east west split.  I mean, who the heck releases confetti and streamers after ONE win?  I remember the Minnesota Timberwolves doing that back in the day.  It was vs MJ and the Bulls back then, and it was a regular season game.  It’s funny to see what other teams like to celebrate.  Well, I guess that was a good goal going into the series for the Bucks, and that is, to win one game.  They accomplished their goal, and now we’ll put them where they belong… back on their couches after Monday night.

Jimmy B carried us in the 1st half of this one.  This guy has been playing out of his mind.  Rose has been playing very well too, yet he was the goat in this one.  He dribbled away our last shot chance, and then played that no look defense to give the Bucks their one win.  Man, it’s one thing or another with this guy… haha.  He took the blame for this one, and rightfully so.  We all know one play doesn’t win or lose a game, but with the game on the line, he blew it.  The thing about Rose through everything, is that he’s not afraid of the moment.  I’m a little weary of his FTs late, but with the ball in his hands late, and with him taking the last shot, I feel very confident.  With Jimmy B having that same gene, I feel pretty good about moving forward in these playoffs.  We’ll have to wait one more game to see LBJ; the Hate File is already rattling…

The Hawks got the more important win on this day.  It was a pretty drama filled series vs the Preds.  It was 3 quick goals in Game 1 that sent Crow to the bench.  It was 3 quick goals in Game 2 that sent him back to the bench in Game 3.  It was 3 quick goals in Game 5 that sent this series back to Chicago.  It was 3 quick goals in Game 6 that brought Crow back.  I was calling for him after the 2nd.  It wasn’t Darling’s fault, just like it wasn’t all Crow’s fault in the earlier games.  The Hawks came out sleepwalking in this one; thankfully they were able to make up for it.

There was no need for a Game 7 this early in the playoffs; I expect the Hawks to keep moving on… but won’t take it for granted.  The Hawks struck back quickly in this one, tying it at 3 by the end of the 1st on a Kane rocket.  That’s the way it stood until the 3rd, when Keith stepped up with his 2nd game winning goal of this series.  That may have been the best rush of the series by the Hawks.  There was 3 or 4 great chances before Keith fired it past Rinne.  The Hawks poured it on, and got the goal they needed to dispatch of this team.  You know what… I’m relieved too.  Rinne had been playing a little better, and Nashville was a good home team all year.  Game 7 back down there would not have been for the faint of heart.

So one down, one to go.  Anybody not think the Bulls close out this D league team on Monday night?  Just see that the Wild won, and that’s who the Hawks will match up with next.  Do we have to worry about them THIS year?  Enjoy the rest of the weekend; we’ve only just begun.
