April 24, 2017: Bullwildered

It’s not that surprising, is it?  It’s just funny to me.  I thought the Bulls would get crushed in this series.  I was only able to listen to a bit of Game 1, and watched most of Game 2.  I was just shocked… then I started to get a bit excited… like a fool.  Watching Game 3 and Game 4, I saw the Bulls team I had watched most of the year.  I just couldn’t believe how bad they looked at home compared to how good they looked in Boston.  Is missing Rondo hurting us that much?  I guess that’s what’s got me a little bullwildered… I mean, bewildered.

Jimmy was back… at least with his point total of 33 in this one.  And that, was, about it.  We talked about Wade being that number two guy; how’s that working out.  11 points in Game 4 is an embarrassment.  That’s got me going too.  This was the reason to skip all those practices… to sit all those back to back games… and THIS is what we get?  I don’t know about you, but I counted on winning one game because of DWade.  I know the series isn’t over yet, so I guess I could say I’m still waiting.  He looked horrible out there, just like the rest of the team.

Niko, Niko, Niko… again, 13 points; that remains his high point total for the series.  That just ain’t going to get it done.  He should be that third guy, but since he’s not, maybe somebody else would step up???  That guy was a guy I didn’t even know was still on the roster.  Isaiah Canaan scored 13 points as well on this Sunday.  Fredberg needed to make an adjustment, and his answer was a guy who hadn’t played in forever…  His management of the point guard position was a joke all year, until Rondo finally got it back, by default almost.  And now that he’s gone, it was Jerian Grant named the starter; he played only 5 minutes in this one.  I guess I would have liked to see him get a little more run.  MCW came in at 8 minutes, while Canaan, that guy who hasn’t played in forever, got 34 minutes.  I don’t think he played so bad, but 34 minutes?  And the other guys a combined 13?  I even like the idea that was being tossed around of putting Wade at the PG to join Jimmy in the backcourt.  Wade wasn’t doing anything else special during this game…

And speaking of Rondo… I just can’t believe that it’s all because he isn’t on the court.  No doubt he’s been huge for us down the stretch, with Game 2 being one of his best of the season.  He seemed to make the offense click, while knowing the Celtics playbook on the other side of the floor.  Still, no Rondo means the Bulls suck that bad?  One other thing we can point to, is something we’ve known all year, except for a couple streaks at the beginning of the season and at the end; the Bulls 3 point shooting woes.  5-24 is good for 20.8%.  This is more on GarPax than FredBerg, thinking that 3 point shooting is not important in this era… kind of like how carrying the ball is…  come on Fred…

The happy confusion is gone, and the harsh reality is back.  The Bulls are back to looking like the train wreck they were for most of the season.  Yet, the series is tied.  Again, tell me that before the series started, and I’ll take this all day.  But after how the Bulls played in front of the home crowd this weekend… I’m not feeling it.

I don’t think the Bulls will win another game; I’m back to that reverse psychology.  You need to be a psych major to understand this Bulls team, and even then, you may not give the proper diagnosis.  Which Bulls will show up in Boston?  It’s anybody’s guess, and I guess, unless Rondo is coming back, the series is over.  That’s just crazy enough to be true with this Bulls team.  See you Wednesday.

The roller coaster ride that is the Bulls season continues. After inching to the top in games 1 and 2, the Bulls have zipped back down the drop in games 3 and 4. What will we see tonight?
Buckets played well in game 4. He cannot do it alone. His robin, dwade, continues to show his age and inability to carry his weight. Rondo being sidelined is hurting as his replacements seem lost at the point guard position. Fredberg continues to baffle us with his decision making. No real rhyme or reason to who plays at the pg position or gets time coming off the bench. No solid rotation leaves guys guessing as to their workload from game to game and stifles any chemistry for the Bulls. Yes, guys should be ready whenever they are called upon, but how do you get any consistency when your minutes fluctuate drastically game to game. We are happy at 2-2 in the series, but winning one at the UC would have put a stranglehold on it. Not doing that now means that the Bulls have to win 2 in a row or both in boston to get it done. Impossible? No. Improbable? Yes. Which Bulls team shows up tonight? Your guess is as good as mine. GO BULLS!!!
