April 23, 2015: New Expectations

posted in: Bears | 2

What a difference a year makes.  Last year at this time, we were reviewing the Bears 2014 schedule, and feeling pretty good.  After last year’s train wreck, and looking at this year’s schedule, there are very new expectations.

So, I’m going to give it a shot.  Last year, I was drinking the kool aid and predicted an 11-5 record.  I’m going to stick to my day job, but that doesn’t mean I can’t try it again.  We all can.  It’s a new year.  It can’t be worse than last year, right?

Week 1 vs Green Bay

Jump on in, the water’s warm.  We don’t wait long to renew the oldest rivalry in football, and put Jay’s 1-11 (?) record vs GB on the line.  But hey, this is week 1, and we have been good in week 1, and Green Bay had a slow start last year, and maybe this is our best shot at them?  And John Fox Bears record (0-0) vs GB is better than’s Jay’s…  And I never pick Green Bay.  WIN.

Week 2 vs Arizona

OK, so the Cardinals looked very good last year.  Who is to say that repeats?  Who is to say the Bears will suck that bad this year?  It’s the NFL for God’s sake.  Anything can happen, even a 2-0 start.  WIN.

Week 3 at Seattle

Coming back down to earth now…Travelling cross country to play in a difficult road venue… How’d we do there last preseason?  UGLY.   It’s time for our first loss of the season.  LOSS.

Week 4 vs Oakland

Hey, even the Raiders might not be that bad this year.  Maybe this is the year they turn it around.  Maybe… but not today.  We may be rounding up the boys to get out to this game w/my buddy from the West Coast coming in.  We definitely can’t lose this one.  WIN

Week 5 at KC

First Seattle, then KC; these are some tough road games.  We lost the first, we’ll lose this one.  LOSS

Week 6 at Detroit

So how’d that Detroit Super Bowl run go last year?  A little better than ours…  Yet, they still had that view from the sofa on Super Bowl Sunday.  They always do.  WIN

Week 7 BYE

4-2 at the Bye???  No fricking way.  I haven’t started drinking yet today… I’m OK…

Week 8 vs Minnesota

Now we have a winnable game at home ANY year vs the Vikings after our bye week.  Didn’t think we need the extra week to take on the Queens?  But that bye week didn’t help us that much last year anyways…  I’m still going W.  WIN

Week 9 at San Diego

The Bears have been playing good so far, yet are only 1-2 on the road.  Our only Monday nighter is in Southern California; lots of Bears fans will be there.  It won’t matter.  LOSS

Week 10 at St. Louis

The wheels start to fall off.  What looked like a surprising, promising season is now starting to look ugly.  The Rams beat us easily in the dome.  LOSS

Week 11 vs Denver

Then we have to come home to play Peyton and the Broncos?  We lose a game we were supposed to win the week before, we win a game that we were supposed to lose here.  WIN

Week 12 at Green Bay

Thanksgiving night.  Bears with a respectable 6-4 record.  Still actually in the playoff hunt.  We head up to Lambeau, where maybe the biggest Bears’ killer of all time is getting his number retired.  This doesn’t sound good.  I hate picking Green Bay.  WIN

Week 13 vs San Francisco

San Fran will be in the gutter this year… or so they say.  We have a great record at home… undefeated at this point, coming off 2 huge wins.  That always spells trouble.  LOSS

Week 14 vs Washington

Was hoping this would be RG3 in a Bears uniform vs Jay Cutler in a Redskins uniform…  Hey, that wouldn’t have been that bad.  We’ll see why in person this week.  LOSS

Week 15 at Minnesota

Our road woes continue against this beatable division foe.  After this game, our road record sits at 2-5.  LOSS

Week 16 at Tampa Bay

Here’s Lovie… Here’s Jameis Winston… Here’s a W.  WIN

Week 17 vs Detroit

I hate picking Green Bay… that’s well documented.  I just think the Lions are a joke.  Sorry Detroit fans.  WIN

So there you have it… the unofficial official pre season NFL 2015 Bears picks.  Hey, 9-7 may even get us in the playoffs.  Maybe 9-7 is too generous.  Maybe it’s because I’m a die hard and not realistic.  So what!  It could happen… BEAR DOWN BABY!
