April 20, 2022: Come On Home

I guess the Milwaukee Bucks will just have to win in five then… apologize to all those ”living their bet life” who took the Bucks to sweep, and also anyone that may have taken the Bucks to cover the ridiculous spread in either of these first two games in Milwaukee. What had originally got me riled up… seeing Aaron Rodgers and some washed up WR courtside, in retrospect, may have been intertwined with the developments on Wednesday evening. You know, Rodgers choking in the postseason; spoiler alert: he didn’t throw a TD in this playoff game either. Or maybe, just maybe, the Bulls are a pretty good team; maybe they will make this a series…maybe.

It all starts on the defensive side of the ball. The Bulls brought the effort that we hadn’t seen in the final month of the regular season for the second straight game. This was the key to the game, and oh yeah, this time the Bulls actually made some shots to go along with it. DD was right when he said he wouldn’t have another game like the first one. His shots weren’t all falling early, so he did what you should do when that happens: go to the rim. Don’t just keep firing outside shots; get your game going by getting to the rim. DD got going, and he took the Bulls along with him. Sure, Vooch had 24, including 4 from 8 from deep which we may regret later in the series, and 20 from Zach on only 13 shots, but that 41 from ”frozen DeRozan” sticks out, kind of like how I can’t believe Stacey didn’t come up with that nickname; I like it. My trademarked Mid Range Money is still my favorite, and I also like King of the Fourth, but Frozen DeRozan…very nice Gus Johnson. Whatever you call him, don’t refer to him as a guy who doesn’t perform in the postseason. I know it’s only one game, but hopefully this will be the start of another run of games like he had during the season. If he leads the Bulls to a series win over these Bucks…

It IS only one game, but you have to start somewhere. By winning Game 2 in Milwaukee, the Bulls have given themselves home court advantage from here on out. Please don’t forget to bring that defensive effort back home with you. If you show us that, in front of the home crowd at the UC, you will hear it. You will hear the crowd roar, for the first time in 5 years watching the Bulls in the playoffs at the UC. Friday night too??? To say the UC will be rocking for Game 3 would be an understatement. And guess what? We will be in the house, settled in among the rest of the crazies in the 300 level. Any bets on whether I’m going to lose my voice???

Come on home boys. You’ve done good, really good. Proud of you. But unlike most NBA experts, we don’t believe this stops here. We’re ecstatic to get a win up North, but we didn’t come here for one win… We didn’t earn a playoff bid to just slow down the Bucks. We came here to win, no? Maybe you didn’t believe before the series started; maybe you still don’t. That’s OK; you have plenty of company. I know I’ll have plenty of company on Friday night at the UC. If you listen really close, let me know if you think we believe… Go Bulls!!!
