OK, it’s like we have to go through this each and every year. God forbid the Cubs have a losing record after playing three percent of their 162 games. Hey, I’m not happy about it either, but seriously?
I’ll take the bait. I’ll look back to last year, and how they started off. How they could never get going… All the talk about the hangover that we kept disputing turned out to be true. The slow start that we saw ended up being a sign of things to come. Yeah, they still made it to the NLCS, but they didn’t win it all. And that’s what this era of Cubs baseball is all about. So, seeing them start off slow again, brings me back to last year… not ancient history OK. No, I saw it last year, and it ended badly. I’m seeing it this year, and…
The Cubs aren’t scoring any runs; sound familiar? Maddon was funny after Sunday’s loss saying it was the most amazing shutout he’s ever seen, or something like that… with all the hard hit balls, etc. Then going on to Cincy and losing 1-0 to follow up on a series split with the juggernaut Marlins. Yeah, OK, so what… I’m panicking!!!
Haha.. see how quickly we can go down that path? I’m not though… nowhere near hitting the panic button. I can’t even believe I’m writing about this.
2-3? So what. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing either. We certainly don’t want to play down to the competition, but it’s too early to even say that. The season just started! When the Cubs get going, they’ll be able to beat anybody, anywhere, anytime. If we’re still waiting for them to play their best 40 games in, then let’s talk. Remember, we want them playing their best 162 games in.

Of course, they need to win enough games to qualify to play anything past 162, but we’re not really worried about that. I was only talking crap when I said they’d go undefeated… I’m half joking about them having the best record in MLB history… they still could have that. Man, how a few games could change everything… but, that’s how we live and die with our teams, especially our Cubs.
But, not for me… yes, it will be a roller coaster of a season; it always is. But I’m not getting on that ride just yet. Let them get some games under their belt before we start drawing conclusions. Let’s stick with our original thought that they’re going to be really good this year… like back to the World Series good. That’s not changing after a measly five games.
Let’s act like we’ve been through this a time or two. Maybe it’s all these bandwagoners that like to over react on stuff? Only supporting teams when they’re winning. But for folks like us, we’re there win or lose… through thick and thin… and surely a 5 game span is not going to rattle us.
So, let’s keep watching. Let’s take it all in, and save our first judgment for around the 40 game mark. I’ll remember what I wrote today, and I’ll be back then to talk about it some more… Then we can start talking… Until then, I’ll relax… unless they lose a couple more games… just kidding. Go Cubs!

Oh no, a 2-3 start, the Cubs are done. Starting pitching has no wins. Batters cant get the big hit. Why watch the remaining 157 games? HAHAHA. Too funny. Yes, starters have no wins the first time through the rotation. Yes, the Cubs batters have been getting on but cannot seem to get that big hit…sound familiar? Well, contrary to those panicking, I am not. The starters will get their wins. The batters will get big hits. I mean, they have a new hitting coach…give it some time. Yes, it would be nice to be 5-0, but the division is not won or lost in the first week. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the golden era of Cubs baseball. Yes, there will be losses and low points. But, there will be more Ws and high points leading to a 4th straight playoff birth. Breathe. Deeply. Enjoy this next 4 game set in Wrigley north before coming home on Monday for Opening Day at Wrigley! GO CUBS GO!!!
