This is the day, this is the day… The next coming is finally here… in Wrigley Field… in a Chicago Cubs uniform. Kris Bryant has finally arrived. Can he live up to the hype?
Well us Cubs fans sure hope so. This kid has torn through minor league pitching at every level. He could have been called up late last year after being named the minor league player of the year. He could have started the season at 3B for the Cubs this year. We all know the reason why he was not called up and why he did not start the season here, but that’s unimportant now. We waited the extra 8 games, and the time is now.
The Cubs haven’t been doing too bad by the way without their savior. A 5-3 record thus far is good for first place…. yep, first place. Yes, it’s April, I realize that. Still, the last couple years, by this point, the Cubs were already out of it. OK, maybe not that drastic, but it’s been ugly. We can see some light. Now we’re adding a big piece.
He’s not the ONLY piece. As we’ve seen so far, one of our other super prospects has been doing pretty well. Jorge Soler is viewed by some as THE top prospect over Bryant. Some view Addison Russell, who’s still in triple A, as the Cubs number 1 prospect. I guess it’s good to have that argument. If you start to look up and down the Cubs lineup, you start to see promise. It’s not just Rizzo and Castro any longer…
This is a big benefit in today’s world where teens are busy with sports and school cialis 10 mg commitments and parents are often working and unable to transport the teens to their myriad activities. Hence, its impact extremely has to run under doctor prescription generic cialis prescriptions only. Adding Bryant only makes the lineup that much better. Definitely better over another “super” prospect in Mike Olt; here’s an example of a guy we traded for, that was highly touted, that has NOT panned out. I’m not completely giving up on him yet… worst case, maybe we get some value for him in a trade. Jonathan Herrera? I don’t think so. Third base is Kris Bryant… hopefully for years and years to come.
This still doesn’t help improve our starting pitching, which is still an area of concern for me. I’m not worried about Lester’s slow start… Arrieta has looked fine. As I’ve mentioned before, 1-2 are set. It’s 3-5 that have me worried. Although Wood pitched well in his last outing, I’m not a believer. Hendricks had a good year last year… can he duplicate? And Hammel is a good end of the rotation guy… not a #3. If the Cubs can stay towards the top of the standings as the year goes on, I’m thinking we’ll be adding here.
It’s an exciting time to be a Cubs fan. I’m thinking we’ll remember this day for a while. We’ve had some memorable debuts from this team before. Castro had an awesome first game in Cincinnati. Baez hit the game winning HR in Colorado last year. What will Bryant do in his first game? I see the ESPN Chicago poll is asking how many home runs he will hit… haha. I voted for 1.
Wish I could take off, and head up to Wrigley this afternoon. But I’ll have to settle for following closely on my phone and PC. Today is The Arrival. Kris Bryant is finally here. Sit back and enjoy and GO CUBS!
