OK, I’ve held off long enough. Damn do the Cubs suck so far this year. Another weak loss on Friday afternoon has got me pissed off. I was in a good mood. I had left work early. I got to watch most of the game. Friday afternoons at Wrigley are awesome. And then it happens… or it doesn’t happen, depending on how you look at it. The Cubs went ahead and ruined a good thing.
Today is nothing different than what we’ve seen all year from them. They simply can’t hit. I love, love, love watching the Cubs… and I say that so maybe you can understand just how painful it is to watch them nowadays. They suck; they’re sucking at a historic pace with an absolute punch less offense thus far. But according to Ryan Dempster, everybody just hike up your socks one game, and they’ll snap out of it. Speaking about Dempster… why the F is he talking during the game? I don’t know about you, but I’m flat out sick of hearing him. Whose ass at Marquee does he have his head up? We brought along Boog; jury still out on him… but he seems OK enough… if you want to be lulled to sleep during the game. I mean, the combo of the Cubs offense and Boog’s voice will help anybody take a quick nap. I want to hear him though… trying to get used to him… and of course JD, and then you got Dempster interjecting here and there; do we really need a 3 man team? My God… and JD… I’ve always liked JD, but it sure seems like they’re grooming Dempster to take his place; that sucks. Just stay true to yourself JD and don’t go towing the company line, like when you tried to explain to us why the Cubs sending down Nico was not about service time. You’re a funny, witty guy; keep with it. And oh yeah, how about start calling these guys out? Oh yeah, Steve Stone did once upon a time and was sent packing. I’m pissed.
But it’s really more about what I’m seeing on the field, and not what I’m hearing in the booth. Our prized free agent acquisition… he sucks too. I was hoping Joc doubled his home run and RBI total for the year with one big swing in the bottom of the 9th, but I should have known better. If it wasn’t for the home run he hit when we were there in person, he’d be completely worthless. But he’s supposed to be like our 5th best offensive player, right? KB has been OK, except today… he looked lost up there. Rizzo has been very quiet; he’s been looking a bit better at the plate lately. Baez has a few home runs, but seems intent on leading the majors in strike outs the way he’s swinging at everything. And Willson… love his passion, love the bomb today, but he ain’t tearing the cover off the ball either. It’s early though, right? That’s what I keep telling myself.

I’ve questioned some of his moves also… like the one game he pulled Brothers bringing in Winkler, Winker or whoever it was that walked 3 straight batters before Kimbrel saved his ass. I don’t know… am I nitpicking? When the Cubs are losing, every little thing pisses me off.
OK, I’m going to try to proceed to have a good weekend anyways; shit, maybe even the Cubs win one for me. Maybe I need a Snickers bar… I am kind of hungry… but this one was just like the cherry on top of the early cake the Cubs have given us. But that’s OK… let’s just keep patting everybody on the back, saying it’s going to be OK… but is everything really going to be OK? I’m starting to wonder… I’ll be watching.
