This is one word I don’t think I have ever used to describe a performance by our Chicago Blackhawks. I can’t really think of a better word to describe their play in Game 2, and how I felt watching it. It was flat out embarrassing.
Where do I start? How about no goals in two games? Is that embarrassing enough for you? Yeah, so there were a few “pings” in this one, but overall, more Rinne than we expected. 59 for 59 through two playoff games…at the UC!!! I mean, lose the first two games on the road ok, but lose the first two games at home??? Terrible.
How about the chippiness of our boys? Not used to seeing that, and kind of feel like I wish they would have used their energy playing and scoring goals rather than taking cheap shots at guys. Kane, Hartman… Really? That’s not something we’ve seen a lot out of our Hawks; it’s not a good look. I guess we should settle for any energy? Is that where we’re at?
Where do we go from here? Yes, the world is not over, neither is the series, and right about now our “too much faith” reflex kicks in for the Hawks. They’ve done it before. They’ve put themselves in a hole. They’ve came back to win. Yeah, and they’ve also lost after digging a hole. And by the way, do I have to remind you that they have scored a total of ZERO goals through six periods of hockey?!?!
Maybe it’s time to start giving credit where credit is due, and that’s with the Predators of Nashville. Rinne has been the MVP so far. They’ve outplayed us, badly; no other way to look at it. Maybe this team that was a dark horse pick for the Cup at the start of the year is finally becoming that team? Beating the Hawks would be huge for the Predators…finally getting over their hump if you may. They certainly look like the part. The Hawks look ripe for the picking right now.

But it’s the Hawks, the Chicago Blackhawks for God’s sake. They’re not going out like this. They will play their best game of the year in Game 3. Kane and Toews will lead us to a victory. Crow will shut them out. Then we’ll win Game 4, because we’re the Hawks, and we’re a damn good road team with a ton of experience and 3 Stanley Cups this decade. Then we’ll go ahead and win the next two games to win the series just as everybody predicted four games to two. Then we’ll march on easily to the Cup because this was our one big moment of truth this year. Why am I finding this paragraph really hard to believe right now?
It’s because we haven’t scored one fricking goal in this series yet!!! And I’m pretty sure that you have to score to win; ok bad joke. Frankly, nothing is really funny right now, even this “live” SNL right now; did anybody else think it was actually “live” before this episode?
I wish that Hawks game was pre-recorded…from another lifetime. It’s not many times the Hawks have made me doubt…but call me Thomas; thank you, thank you…I’ll be here all week. But seriously, with that “too much faith” turning into “too little faith” as we speak, this Blackhawks fan is in a weird place.
I’ll be tuning in Monday night. I want to believe I’ll see the team I watched all year….the team I thought had a really good chance at their 4th cup. I want to believe that whoever this team was on the ice the first two games doesn’t show their ugly face again. I want to believe that this feeling of embarrassment is only a temporary one, and that the pride will return with a beatdown of the Predators. I can’t believe I just wrote this…about the Blackhawks! And we were worried about the Bulls…

Way to dig the 0-2 hole Hawks! Losing both games at the UC without scoring a single goal. Embarrassing is a good adjective, but how about pathetic, too? This does not look like the same team that conquered the west. They look like a shell of the themselves. Yes, they have hit a few posts and have had some chances. Rinne is playing great, but there is way too much talent on the Hawks to get shutout twice in a row in the playoffs. What a horrible time to play the worst you have all year! I know, I know, the series is not over. The Hawks can win 4 of the next 5 and advance with this being a bump in the road to the Cup. For that to happen, the Hawks need to bring their A game for 3+ periods, if needed, in game 3 on the road. Dont panic just yet, but bring everything you got Hawks. The preds are hungry and have shown it. Match that intensity and get back in the series. GO HAWKS!!!
