April 16, 2016: After Further Review

posted in: Blackhawks | 1

There are no easy games in the NHL playoffs.  With the Blackhawks being in so many of these games over the past 7 years, you really do appreciate how tough that road to the Stanley Cup is.  Friday night was no different.

Down 1-0, the Hawks faced the prospect (again) of going down 2-0.  Not the end of the world, but certainly not preferred.  Like not watching the 1st 2 periods of the game… not the end of the world, but certainly not preferred.  Actually, John and Troy got me through the first.  After a scoreless period, I missed almost the whole 2nd.  I did get a text message that I can’t put in print discussing Rozsival’s (I’m not bothering to check the spelling for a reason) quality of play… and I assumed that meant we were down 1-0; I was right.  When we piled back in the car, and flipped the game back on, it was perfect timing.

The return of Duncan Keith was huge.  His shot that found the back of the net that tied the game is what I heard.  That has to be the worst… to give up a goal with only a few seconds left in the period.  That stings.  But this game was about to get a lot more interesting.

So back on the couch for the 3rd… the Blues took the lead with that damn Russian again.  But wait… a video review you say?  What would they be reviewing there?  Offsides?  You could do that?  I was surprised, and hopeful, that there must be a reason the Hawks are requesting a review.  After the decision was made, I think somebody in that coaching box deserves a raise; good catch!  It was a close call that we were more than happy to take.  Then came the next twist…

Since Pfizer invented the now famous blue pill the keyword ” generic viagra from canada” has been the target of thousands pharmacy affiliate webmasters due to the huge community of doctors and scientists who are working round the clock effectiveness. cialis purchase cialis online are a generic drug of the same brand name and generic drugs which are used these days in the United States and abroad. Gokshura: sildenafil tablets uk This is mainly for reviving libido and for intensifying performance. Shaw banged in a goal from close quarters, and you don’t say… another review.  This time, the refs looked at it… then ruled it a goal.  Then, it was as if Lovie Smith walked into the building as Ken Bitchcock called for a review.  Now maybe it’s because I don’t completely understand the review system in the NHL, but if the refs just got done looking at it, and ruled it a goal, why would you think they would change their minds?  The goal counted, St. Louis lost their timeout, and after further review… 2 of them… the Hawks now held a 2-1 lead.

There are all kinds of ways to win games, but this may be a first.  And yes, the Hawks did hold on, as Keith made a nice play out of the zone that Bread Man deflected into the empty net; we got a little lucky there too.  Just like we got with the Duncan Keith suspension.  I was thinking 10 games minimum, especially since he’s a repeat offender.  The 6 games he received were a gift.  He played a major role, as did Crow again.  Nice game in goal…2 in a row now.  I think it’s safe to say Crow is 100%, and that’s really good news for us.

Yes, the Blues scored with 1 second left to ruin all those puck line plays on the Hawks, but that didn’t matter.  The Hawks got a huge win and evened the series.  Now, the reigning champs come back to the UC in front of the faithful to try and grab a stranglehold in the series before we head back down south.  Not a good night for those Blues fans… that review sequence really has to sting.  Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

Nice way to head into the weekend.  Now we can watch the Bulls play their playoff…. oh.. yeah… that’s right.  Yeah, I’m done talking about them, but the UC will still have one tenant keeping it rocking, and I’m not talking about Rihanna.  Blackhawks are coming home… the road to the Stanley Cup has just begun.  Go Hawks!

Hawks win on the road like they have done so many times before, and they will have to continue to do so. They are experienced and have enough talent to do it. What a great review call! Crow has been solid. Welcome back keith. The Hawks dont need home ice, but they need to win at home when there. Either way, Hawks up or down, at home or on the road, never count them out.
