Fool on the Hill… one of my favorite Beatles’ songs; I have a lot of them. My dad and I talk about that list, and how it could change day to day, week to week; there are so many to choose from. We’ve decided it would be easier to make a list of the Beatles’ songs we DON’T like. Anyways, when I was sitting in the cigar shop in my building the other day, I started flipping through one of the books they had; it was about the background of every Beatles’ song. The Fool on the Hill was a tribute to this guy they met while walking over some hills in Scotland I believe; they had went offsite to make the album. This guy appeared, then almost as quickly, disappeared… and another title song was born. Many of their songs have a really simple background story, as they turned day to day stuff into gold; kind of reminds me of Seinfeld in a way… a show about nothing. Was thinking about this song in honor of the title of the day, April Fools’ Day. How many times did you get fooled?
We didn’t really participate this time around; usually my son and I will try to pull a prank or two on my wife… not this year. I guess that will set us up really good for next year, since we didn’t even pay it any attention this time around. I like how one of the radio stations had a play list for the day; obviously the song I mentioned above would be in there. Fool to Cry by the Stones was definitely on the list. Won’t get Fooled again by The Who, and Chain of Fools by Aretha… both good choices. On this particular April Fools’ Day, we had family by the house all day long to celebrate my son’s birthday, which comes around on April 3rd each year. Sandwiched between that and our anniversary, April Fools get lost in the shuffle; we need to bring it back!
We got to watch the Final Four games on Saturday night; one good one, one bad one. I was on FAU plus the points, so that worked out pretty good. I actually had some on the ML too which I lost, but I took SDSU ML in game, which worked out good. However, I was all over Miami, and that didn’t work out as well. It wasn’t my biggest loss of the tourney (that was UCLA), but it was more than my average play. UCONN vs SDSU would be my final NCAA tournament bet of the year on Monday night; spoiler alert… didn’t go my way either. Overall though, not such a bad March Madness from a betting perspective. Sure, my brackets were shit, but I made out a little bit on the wagering side of things.
What will I bet on next? Football is over; College Basketball gone. NBA? NHL? MLB? Now I have to look at 30+ games per day to try to figure out the lucky one. Who’s the fool??? Hahaha…
