November 12, 2021: Fantasy Friday

Due to the bye week, there will be no regularly scheduled Bears game preview today. I’m enjoying the bye week actually; this isn’t usually the case after a loss, in fact 4 losses in a row!!! Jesus, I didn’t even realize that. We’ve been busy trying to rationalize our shitty season by focusing on our potential franchise QB; we’ve been doing a pretty good job. Again, being a Bears fan under the age of 90, I have never, ever seen a franchise QB play; sure, I’ve seen highlights of Sid Luckman, read a book about him for God’s sake, but never have I sat down on a Sunday and watched my team take the field lead by a franchise QB. Will Justin Fields become that guy, that guy we can count on for years under center, that guy we can trust to lead our team week in week out, to lead us back to the promised land, multiple times??? Yes, it’s this fantasy that is keeping us going this year; I fully own that.

Speaking about fantasies, how about the words coming out of Scottie Pippen’s mouth? Maybe more like a nightmare, a delusion maybe. Poor Scottie… no really; I cannot imagine going through the loss of a child. F everything else basically, right? If he had a drinking problem before that… Yeah, I’m not going to drag Pippen through the mud, like he’s hilariously trying to do with MJ; no, I’m not going to respond to this crazy shit. I’m not going to remind him how MJ helped raise him up; I’m not going to remind him of all those games, all those negative moments that come to my mind when I think about him. No, I’m not going to hate Pippen… no Hate File coming. Obviously the guy is in a bad place; I think it’s more than his poor attempt to sell his book. I wish peace for this dude. Regardless of what he says, and how LeBron fans want to grab on to this to push MJ down and pump LBJ up, I will always love Pippen. He was a big part of some of the greatest times of my life. He was a great help for the GOAT, helping MJ bring title after title to Chicago. I choose to remember that.

Lastly on this fantasy Friday, I turn my attention to Fantasy Football for a minute. Hey, look, I’m not even dedicating a whole blog to this. Do you know I used to write a regular feature about Fantasy Football? Yeah, for a short time 7 years ago, I wrote 32 blogs about it, trying to pick guys that were going to have good weeks; what a disaster that was. I can only image how well these gambling sites are doing, snatching up all this dough from people trying to pick the over and under on yards and TDs for players each week. Anyways, yeah, I’ve been playing Fantasy Football for about 30 years, but this year, my son is starting earlier than me. He has his first team, Soldier Fields, in our family league. To say he’s in to it, would be an understatement; we have reached a new point this week. Sure, he checks his lineup every day, scours the free agent wire recording 9 more moves than anybody else in the league thus far (btw the person with the 2nd most moves is me), and has negotiated multiple trades to improve his team, but now… now, we’re monitoring team practices each day during the week to find out if his “questionable” guys are playing… I’ve created a monster!!! I love it… haha… You can only imagine how anxious he was to get his first win, losing the first 5 weeks of the season; he’s won 3 of the last 4 weeks, and although Hollywood Brown had a shitty game on Thursday night, still hopeful that he can make it 4 out of 5, as he climbs into playoff position. Go boy go!!!

Friday night brings us a pair of games for us to tune into. First, the Blackhawks go for 3 in a row with their new “interim” coach at home against the Arizona Coyotes, one of two teams in the NHL that the Blackhawks have more points than. Secondly, we see the Bulls face the only team with a better record than them, in San Francisco as they take on the Golden State Warriors. Lock and load baby, lock and load…
