Like I started off my last one… at least the Bears didn’t embarrass us on Monday Night; God knows we’ve been there many times. We have been there this year too. The fact that the Bears lost a close game is supposed to make us feel better? The fact that Justin Fields showed us some more positive things is supposed to help? The Bears are trending in the right direction, right?
There’s two sides to everything, you know, the whole glass half full, glass half empty discussion that I’m all too familiar with. I’m always that glass half full guy… always… to a fault, where my reality becomes distorted, but I’ll tell you what: I’d much rather be that way than the alternative. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have negative feelings. Seeing my team lose a game brings me negative vibes, regardless of the “good stuff” that happened. So, at the end of the day, the Bears lost; that sucks. Not happy about that. The last 2 weeks we’ve lost games we frankly should have won. The difference between 3-6 and 5-4 is… huge.
I understand that we need to be patient with our rookie QB, who by the way, IS trending in the right direction. I like what I’ve seen from Fields; I’m excited to see how good he can be. I don’t think we’ll see that this year… due to the whole rookie thing and/or the offense he’s running? Yeah, we still want to fire Nagy? Kind of like Colliton from the Hawks, I wasn’t pressing to do it, but… at this point, with a 3-6 record… I wouldn’t be mad if he was canned. Most people want that to be done; most people are also stupid though… maybe not in this case. When will we see the finished product from Fields? How long will we have to wait for it all to come together? Trying to be patient isn’t easy for us “no-QB, like ever, having fans”. Hoping to have our cake (Justin Fields) and eat it too (win while he is learning) may have been too optimistic. Do we just settle for the cake right now?

Not sure why we threw to Jimmy G a couple times in a row in the end zone, although he did end up catching one… oh yeah, that was called back due to probably the worst call of them all… he didn’t even touch the guy… just fricking madness. It brought back the memory of that call in a Steelers Super Bowl… the one against the Seahawks, where they called Hasselbeck for an illegal block when he was trying to tackle the guy… something like that. It’s just so fricking absurd, but… it will be forgotten… probably already is. The defense played OK; Roquan… damn… he was playing pissed… love him. Eddie Goldman had probably his best game in 2 years. Of course we missed Mack, and even no-tackling Eddie, but… this Steelers offense isn’t good. That rookie RB looks really good, but Big Ben… Jesus… he looks like he can barely move, let alone heave the football which is starting to feel like a shotput to him, 30 yards down the field. Like I said, we should have won this game.
But we didn’t… but… we’re just happy not to be embarrassed… that’s how low the bar is right now. We’re just salivating over the flashes our rookie QB gives us; again, really low bar in the land of QBs here in Chicago. We still want to fire Nagy, right or wrong. And now we’ve got 2 weeks to think about all of it… welcome to the bye week in the middle of another season where we’ll be closer to the bottom than the top of the standings. Hey, at least there’s Detroit to keep us company…
