Bears and Steelers… not a whole lot of games jump into my head. Unfortunately, the one that does includes Jerome Bettis running over Brian Urlacher; another includes Otis Wilson taking out Louis Lipps. I can’t find anything on that Otis Wilson one; I do remember the announcers going in on him, like he was the dirtiest player alive. I didn’t think it was 1986, but if it was, it was the game right after the Charles Martin game; talk about dirty… bastards. The Bus and Urlacher though… there are no shortage of videos on that. In general, I liked the bus… no hard feelings about making one of my favorite Bears look bad; it happens to the best of them. My quick search on YouTube discovered another Bears Steelers game, at the end of the 1992 season, which just happened to be the last home game for Mike Singletary; his number should be retired btw. The Bears won that one. I see that the Bears own a pretty substantial edge in the overall head to head matchup, which means absolutely zero heading into Monday night in Pittsburgh. After last week’s debacle against the Niners, not feeing too great about our chances this week.
Papa Vegas set the line at 5; it has since moved to 6.5, with the Steelers being the favorites of course. I think it’s a fair line. If it was like -3.5, I’d think Papa was trying to dupe folks into betting on Pittsburgh. I would have said about a TD since the get go, which is right where it’s at. Maybe the Bears do cover this spread… or maybe they get their doors blown off. It really could go either way.
It’ll come down to pressure, from both sides. With Big Ben still playing QB, it’s like a sitting duck back there, just waiting to be put out to pasture. Unfortunately, with the absence of Mack again, the pressure on the QB will most likely be light; this is where our DC needs to dial up some blitzes. Put Big Ben on his ass, and we have a chance… because that’s exactly what the Steelers will try to do to Fields. Sure, Fields is like 2x faster than Big Ben, but we’ve seen how games play out when he has under 2 seconds to throw the ball. Cleveland, Tampa Bay… it was ugly. He had some time last week against the Niners, and even a few weeks ago against the Packers; he did OK. If we can give Justin a few seconds…

Excuse me if I’m not excited for the Bears to be on national TV at this point. We’ve already had some embarrassing moments… the Browns with all their sacks, Dr. Rodgers owning us, the Bucs making us look like a college team, and making the Niners and Jimmy G look good. What will the Bears do for an encore in front of the world on Monday Night? But hey, maybe just when you’re feeling no hope, the Bears will shock us, and give us a shot in the arm with a big win… maybe. Here’s hoping. Bear Down!!!
