October 29, 2021: Week 8 Preview 49ers at Bears

posted in: Bears | 2

OK. Glad to talk Bears football again after a bye week last week. Well, it might as well have been a bye week. Since that day, I haven’t talked about the Bears. Was it worse than the Packers loss the week before? Yes it was. At least that gut punch, quote worthy loss against our hated rivals was respectable. Meanwhile, in Tampa Bay, the Bears played a game not worth remembering, unless…

After a loss like that, one that was NOT played at noon, one that featured the top broadcast team, viewed by a lot of folks due to our opponent’s QB, the Bears stock could NOT be lower. Anyone who watched that game, even the die hardest of Bears fans, has to be feeling like shit about the team; I know I am. And this is a good thing because? Well, if you’re a gambling junkie… Papa Vegas is no rookie, and has to set a line that matches up to public perception. The Niners being favored by 4 points in Chicago is a direct reflection of that. Forget how good the Niners are, which by the way, ain’t that good. Any team not named the Lions or Jets would be favored over the Bears at this point after last week’s fiasco. And that presents an opportunity my friends…

I’ve been trying to remain positive about the Bears. I saw a couple things that cheered me up, and no, one of them is NOT Nagy getting COVID. The top 2 records in the AFC belong to the Raiders and Bengals, and what do those two teams have in common??? Both have been beaten by the Bears; crazy, right? In fact, the Bears are only 3-4… not 1-10 like it feels after last week. And if you look at our losses… no excuses OK, but they have been to some pretty solid teams. Rams, Browns, Packers, and Bucs. OK, not buying the Browns, fine, but the other three are the top teams in the NFC; the only one missing is the Cardinals. Does this bode well for the playoffs when the Bears get there? Yeah, I said when!!! Hahaha… NO, it does not, although… the whole rookie potential franchise QB thing is a work in progress, no? We haven’t given up hope on Fields yet, have we? No, no we haven’t… and as long as he stays healthy as he takes his lumps getting his real game experience, we’ll be better off for it.

Final Score Prediction: Bears 24 49ers 21

Ace in the Hole: Khalil Herbert 100+ total yards & 2 TDs (I know I said I’d pick Fields here until he has a big game, but I’ve resorted to using reverse psychology)

I know there are those of you, a lot of you, who don’t believe the Bears and Fields will take off until Nagy is gone. Will he being gone this week due to COVID present us with an example of this? Will the Bears play harder to prove this to us this week? Supposedly the line on the game went down when it was announced Nagy would not be there; that’s some funny shit. If so many Bears fans think so if Papa Vegas thinks so, is it true. Does Nagy have to go? I didn’t think he should have been fired last year; I thought Pace should have been gone. But if we don’t show more promise this year… after the year, I think the deed should be done. Until then, let’s try to get some Ws. Bear Down!!!
