Well, the Bulls certainly didn’t disappoint in their season opener in Detroit. It looked like for a minute they may, but they came back strong, and continued in the 2nd half, to beat the Pistons, and move to 1-0 on the season. The Bulls are never losing again!!!
I love the hype, but feel like pumping the brakes a bit. There were mixed reactions with all the acquisitions the Bulls have made, but in general, at least locally, we were very happy. Then it kind of became that the Bulls were a sleeper this year, based on these “underrated” moves. Then the Bulls kicked ass in the preseason. Now we started off 1-0. The hype train is moving fast now. You got people predicting big things for our Bulls; I hope they’re right. I felt coming into the season the Bulls would be good. They fell short of my 7-8 seed predictions last year, but now, appear to be skipping that step, right into a 4-5 seed this year; at least that’s the plan. Now that 1.2% of the season is completed, we’re right on track…
I don’t want the Bulls to get overhyped. I don’t want to hear SO much praise, especially for a team that has done nothing in recent history. I don’t want these guys on the team to start feeling themselves, thinking they’re the shit, when they haven’t done shit yet. I like the underdog role; let’s stay off the radar. I see Lavine popping up everywhere now… are they grooming him to be the next big NBA superstar? As long as the calls come with it… haha. I’d rather just keep to ourselves, work hard, improve every game, kick ass silently, and shock the world. We need to keep doing what we started doing in Game 1: Win. Let’s start stacking them up. Yet, if/as they stack, so will the hype build. This may be Billy’s challenge this year: keeping the boys grounded, focused on the task at hand. Just because we made great moves, just because we were great in the preseason, just because we won our opener for the first time in 5 years, just because the hype is building… we need to keep grinding; we need to keep getting better.
