Let’s jump into part 2 of the Bears 2021 Season Preview. If you didn’t read part 1, stop now… go back one day, read it, then come back. OK? OK. NOW we’re ready.

The bye week is over, and it was a glorious bye week. The first half of the Bears season started with a retread at the helm helping dig a 1-3 hole, but ended with the arrival of “the franchise”, a 4-1 finish, 3 wins in a row, and a 5-4 record heading into the bye week. The tables have completely turned. Now let’s see how the league adjusts to Fields.

  • Week 11 vs Ravens: 27-13 LOSS
    • The Bears coming off their bye, storm out of the tunnel, ready to take the NFL by storm. Fields coming off the best game of his young career, with an extra week of preparation, comes out and grabs the rookie of the year trophy by its horns. Not so fast buddy boy… The Bears fall flat at home. The Ravens D brings Fields back down to earth, making him look like a rookie. Lamar Jackson runs circles around our defense. This one was ugly. Maybe the Bears were listening a little bit too much to all the love the past 2 weeks…

  • Week 12 at Lions: 21-10 WIN
    • Thank God for the Lions. The Bears put a serious dent in the Lions’ Super Bowl chances with an easy victory on Turkey Day. Haha… just kidding. The Lions will continue to wonder what the Super Bowl is, while the Bears will continue to hold on to 85 in a battle of franchises that has 1 Super Bowl win between them. That’s pretty sad… but hey, the Bears won today; we can enjoy seconds.
  • Week 13 vs Cardinals: 28-27 WIN
    • With an extra few days to prepare… not like that mattered with the bye week… the Bears try to settle in. Another young QB visits Soldier Field and tries to do his thing; he does… for a little bit. Then Fields returns serve, and the Bears pull out a narrow victory, as Neil Rackers misses an easy game winning FG and coach Dennis Green (RIP) comes out banging on the podium in the post game conference… memories…
  • Week 14 at Packers: 35-30 WIN
    • A visit to Lambeau in a primetime Sunday night affair… lots on the line. The Packers are in first place in the division, while the Bears are trying to get into Wild Card position. Rodgers comes out firing to give the Pack a big lead early, then the D tightens the screws. Fields leads some big TD drives in the 2nd half to give the Bears a 35-27 lead late. With the Packers driving down the field late in the game, instead of going for it on 4th down, they kick a field goal, which still leaves them needing a TD; Bears win. I’ll take Deja Vu for $200 Aaron…
  • Week 15 vs Vikings: 24-16 LOSS
    • Coming off a huge win, heading home for another national TV game, this time on Monday night, and… the Bears fall flat again. Just when we get going, just when we start thinking big, this happens; ugh… Will this Bears team be able to finish strong down the stretch and get into the playoffs? This one hurt…
  • Week 16 at Seahawks: 25-21 LOSS
    • Fields and the Bears driving down the field, last 2 minutes of the game, trying to get the go ahead TD… Fields scrambles, he’s heading towards the end zone, and… and… he fumbles. He is just a rookie you know? Yes, he may be the franchise QB we’ve been waiting almost a century for, but he is just a rookie. He owns it. He takes it harder than anyone. And this is why we will grow to love this kid. Still though, a loss this late in the season like THIS really hurts… our playoff chances are on life support.
  • Week 17 vs Giants: 45-27 WIN
    • Vengeance will be mine!!! Fields lights up Soldier Field with 5 TD passes crushing the G-Men in the process, setting up a meaningful game in Week 18… yes, Week 18, the final week of the regular season. How much more can you ask for? With after how the season started, the dumb decision to start Dalton putting us behind the 8 ball… At least we have a chance…
  • Week 18 at Vikings:
    • I should just end it here… kind of like how the Sopranos ended. What the heck happened? Did Tony get killed or what? Did the Bears win a tough divisional game on the road to make the playoffs with a 10-7 record???

If you’ve been reading anything I’ve written over the years, you know how I think this story will end. Of course the Bears win… 27-24. The Bears are back in the playoffs. And if you want to know how this story ends… it ends with Justin Fields holding up the Super Bowl trophy… whether it is this year, or next year, or the following year… we’ve found ourselves a QB, which will lead to DA Bears bringing home their 2nd Super Bowl title… it’s been way too long…

So get ready Bears fans… this year is the start of something special. And by the way, the Bears win the Super Bowl THIS year! A guy can dream no? Bear Down!!!
