It’s not so much burning any more; it’s just kind of like a dull pain. Why I turned the Cubs game on tonight is beyond me…. but hey, they were winning 1-0. The second I tune in, the Brewers rip off 6 runs in the Top of the 5th. I would feel it was over if it was a 9 inning game, but a 7 inning game… that same stupid COVID rule in place around doubleheaders… forget about it. Who are these guys? Jake Jewell? Never heard of him; don’t want to hear about him. The Brewers are going to sweep the doubleheader, which was a bit rain delayed during the 2nd game. This is the only reason I got to tune in; how lucky am I?
I wanted to turn it on because I figured it would be empty at Wrigley; I was right. Those Cubs fans that are there though… got to love them. I remember heading to Cubs games like this. I’ve been to games even later than this in an already known bust of a season; it was still fun… going to Wrigley always is. The first game I went to this year was empty, it was against the Brewers too, but that was due to COVID. Now??? I remember though… heading to a Cubs game late one year… sneaking a bottle of Southern Comfort in; ordering cokes from the vending guy. Stretching out in our seats, because there was nobody in the surrounding rows/seats. Kicking back, getting drunk…
I feel like I need to be drunk watching this game; I feel like anybody attending this game should be drunk… most of them probably are. I wish I was there to enjoy this, but instead I have to listen to Marquee… talking about wanting to be drunk. Boog sucks; sorry. JD is worse without Len. Any guest announcer sucks; even though I like Sutcliffe and Glanville in their own right, putting a third wheel in the booth for the broadcast is a jack-ass idea. I wish I could turn on the radio, and feel the pain and disappointment in Pat and Ron’s voices; they always help make me feel better. But no… Marquee… speaking of busts. I thought it would be awesome, but the Cubs even screwed that up, and now traded away the farm… who do you think is going to pay for these games now?

Did you see that billboard MLB put up in Chicago recognizing Brewers fans as the best in the league? Are you fricking kidding me? They can’t even fill up their own damn stadium, getting outnumbered by Cubs fans in their OWN PARK! How asinine is that? And THEY’RE the best fans? What a fricking joke. I was OK with the Bucks winning it all in basketball, but certainly do not wish any type of this luck to any team from Wisconsin from this point forward. I’d be happy if the Brewers never win a World Series; I’d be happy if the Packers get stuck on 1 Super Bowl per back to back HOF QB.
I thought watching this game would make me feel a little better, but obviously I’m still not ready for this. In fact, the dull pain that I was feeling is kind of flaring up right now; this is downright depressing. Why do I do this to myself?
