Heard this song by the Weeknd this morning, you know, the guy from the Super Bowl halftime show last year. Yeah, it was OK, but more importantly, the title, Save Your Tears, felt appropriate on this Friday morning, the day after LeBron and the Lakers have been eliminated from the first round of the NBA playoffs. Actually, for me, it’s a glorious day. Yeah, Cubs lost late last night; not sweating that. But to see the Lakers, specifically LeBron lose… priceless man.
I don’t like to be a hater, but in some cases, it comes naturally. Lebron makes up the final portion of the trinity of hate. The Packers, the Cardinals, and Lebron; did I mention his name enough yet? You know, I’m contractually obligated to mention LeBron James at least 3x per blog… haha. What a joke, kind of like when he walked off on his teammates the previous game… and he wonders why people hate him. Here’s the thing, at least from my perspective. I grew up watching Jordan play every single night; I got to witness greatness first hand. I think I have a pretty good idea what that means. Not saying LeBron isn’t a great player… I mean, he is… maybe he was? Anyways, sure he’ll be remembered on that list of all-time NBA players from now until the end of time; his marketing team will ensure that. Yet, when you put his name in the same sentence as Jordan, it’s flat out insulting. Some of us can see right through that bullshit…
I’m not going to turn this into a flat out hate file; Lebron already owns a couple. I’ve said plenty about this subject. If you want, you can read plenty of facts on the matter, plenty of expert opinions on the matter as well; there’s a lot of good stuff out there… I’m not here to regurgitate all that; I don’t need to. It’s not a debate; it really isn’t. Yet, I still enjoy seeing him lose; I love it actually. Ankle still bothering him… a sprained ankle, that happened almost 3 months ago, to this “world class athlete”… OK. Mentally exhausting year… now you get the title, save your tears… I’m currently playing the smallest violin in the world for LeBum… Now he can turn his total attention to the knockoff movie bust of the year Space Jam 2… where LeBron gets taken to another planet for rehab after cramping up in a pick-up game…

The team I wanted to lose the most, the Lakers got knocked out. Well, my preferred Finals participant from the Western Conference, the Utah Jazz, are still alive. I guess I’ll be riding with them. Again, I know we had some battles with the Jazz over the years, but since we did beat them in both Finals’ matchups, I have no hate for them. As far as the team remaining that I want to lose the most, I guess it has to be the Nets now.
But honestly, now I really have zero interest in the NBA playoffs. I’ll be keeping tabs, like I do with all sporting events, but it’s really 100% all about the Cubs right now… until the Bears stuff starts heating up. Game 2 in San Francisco tonight.
